ABC has officially renewed Grey’s Anatomy for a 23rd season.
Created by Shonda Rhimes and debuting in 2005, this medical drama is the longest-running of its kind on primetime television. You can currently watch season 22 on ABC and Hulu in the US, and Disney+ in the UK.
Fans will be happy to hear the show is renewed for a 23rd season, but there’s also some sad news. Two familiar faces, Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver, will be leaving as main cast members after season 22.
Fan favorites Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd, who play Dr. Teddy Altman and Dr. Owen Hunt, will be leaving the show after the season finale in May.

Many of the show’s beloved stars will be back for the next season, including Chandra Wilson as Bailey, James Pickens Jr. as Richard, Camilla Luddington as Jo, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia, and Chris Carmack as Link.
Deadline previously stated that a potential season 23 renewal might come with a smaller budget and fewer episodes, though this hasn’t been officially announced.
Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy began airing in October and returned from a month-long break in late February. The new season included a special episode honoring Eric Dane, who famously played Dr. Mark Sloan in the show’s earlier years.
Grey’s Anatomy is available to stream on Disney+. You can sign up to Disney+ from £5.99 a monthnow.
