As a die-hard Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about Vin Diesel‘s upcoming Groot project! It appears that the title of this much-anticipated sequel is “The Arbor King.” This reveal follows Diesel’s previous hints about the project, which he shared a month ago in a now-removed social media post.
What was Vin Diesel’s Groot update?
On Instagram, Diesel shared his enthusiasm about working on and penning The Arbor King film, which is touted as the highly anticipated continuation of Groot’s journey back to Planet X, his home world. Moreover, his post featured an intriguing image of a fresh take on Groot, along with what appears to be an older version of the Hulk. However, it remains to be seen if this concept art has any ties to the storyline of the project.
Currently, Marvel Studios has not made any public announcements about a sequel for Groot. If the project moves forward, it could mark the first standalone movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe focused on this beloved character. Most recently, fans saw Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with him and Groot being the last original members of the team still around at the end.
Originating from the creative minds of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby, Groot is a tree-like extraterrestrial character who primarily speaks using the phrase “I am Groot.” Vin Diesel has lent his voice to this character in six Marvel Cinematic Universe films such as the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, Diesel has been seen in the Disney+ animated mini-series titled I Am Groot and in the television special The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
