Well, that’s not quite so, if YouTuber and leaker Detective Seeds is to be believed.

Earlier, their predictions about the release of Doom: The Dark Ages previews and the unexpected Oblivion remaster proved correct. However, as the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day…

According to Detective Seeds’ claims, GTA6 consistently achieves a frame rate of 60fps and is optimized for the PlayStation 5 Pro across various graphic settings.

As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m excited to share some insider news: while it may seem too good to be true, there’s solid evidence that Grand Theft Auto 6 is indeed running at an impressive 60 frames per second! This tantalizing tidbit can be uncovered right on the Rockstar Games website.

Alongside Trailer 2, Rockstar dropped a handful of short social media clips that run at 60FPS.

It seems likely that these images originated from a developer version running on a computer, as their clarity suggests. This remains plausible.

If GTA 6 manages to run at 60FPS on the PS5 Pro, it could theoretically be achieved through Sony’s own technology-enhanced image upscaler, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). This technology is expected to grow more advanced as Sony and AMD continue their partnership, known as Project Amethyst. This collaboration will involve sharing technologies like the improved upscaler FSR4, which is planned to be integrated into PSSR by 2026.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the rumors that Sony might be stepping into Rockstar Games. If this collaboration happens, it’s safe to say we’re in for some high-quality, cutting-edge gameplay.

However, there’s a significant question mark hanging over the PS5 Pro’s CPU performance, as opinions differ on its ability to handle demanding tasks effectively.

In every Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game, the simulation is always incredibly detailed. Trailer previews demonstrate an impressive number of cars and people that will appear simultaneously on the screen at any moment. Notably, each vehicle and pedestrian has its own physics simulation, with AI determining their movements, reactions to in-game events, and more.

Normally, tasks like these are managed by the CPU, whereas the CPU in the upgraded PS5 Pro isn’t a significant improvement compared to the original model, unlike the GPU.

From our perspective, if Rockstar Games doesn’t transfer these tasks to the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), possibly through asynchronous computing or another highly innovative method, it appears quite improbable for Grand Theft Auto 6 to run at 60 Frames Per Second (FPS) on the PlayStation 5 Pro.

It’s clear that Sony aims for GTA 6 to perform optimally on its own system, considering the high anticipation surrounding the game, which might significantly boost console sales.

As a gamer, I’d say if you’re aiming for that extra performance boost, shooting for a steady 40 frames per second (FPS) feels more achievable. Many PlayStation 5 Pro owners also have displays with 120Hz refresh rates and variable refresh support, making 40FPS a reasonable goal and a more realistic expectation.
