Astro’s Playroom (PS5)

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at Kojima Productions’ masterful sequel to Death Stranding. This game takes storytelling, character development, and visuals to unprecedented heights, outshining even their remarkable debut.

Once more, I find myself in the role of Sam, tasked with an even greater mission: reuniting a larger land mass with the chiral network. But this time around, my deliveries extend beyond the ordinary, encompassing intense combat scenarios that push me to my limits.

Death Stranding 2 is nothing short of a cinematic triumph across all fronts, a gem in the PS5 library that will undoubtedly endure as one of its most cherished titles.

Demon’s Souls (PS5)

A remake of Demon’s Souls on PS3

Sony managed to excite gaming enthusiasts by including Demon’s Souls in the PS5’s initial collection of games at launch. Originally, FromSoftware’s renowned action RPG was overlooked by Sony during the PS3 era because early iterations were deemed not polished enough. Later, publishers like Atlus and Bandai Namco took up the game, turning it into a cult favorite. Seemingly acknowledging this oversight, Sony enlisted Bluepoint Games to modernize the game for today’s market – and the overhaul is impressive. This updated version employs original PS3 code to deliver an exceptionally authentic experience, but its graphics are some of the best you’ll find on Sony’s latest console. Destruction AllStars (PS5)

Sony nearly made a mistake by pricing Destruction AllStars at £69.99/$69.99 before its release on the PS5, but later changed their mind and included it in the PS Plus library instead. Although the game had potential from the start, Lucid Games needed some time to refine the gameplay formula. With minor tweaks, such as adjusting the arena sizes, this high-octane racing game now plays wonderfully, boasting a diverse roster of characters and stunning visuals.

Firewall Ultra (PS5)

Firewall Ultra, developed by First Contact Entertainment, is essentially a follow-up to the well-loved PSVR tactical shooter, Firewall Zero Hour. However, this 4v4 first-person shooter doesn’t offer quite the same freshness as its predecessor and has been outdone by more advanced online PSVR2 shooters such as Pavlov VR in terms of quality.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut (PS5)

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is a revamped release of one of the best open-world games from the PS4 era on the PS5. Developed by Sucker Punch, it’s a standout game for Sony. This enhanced edition includes a new serene location called Iki Island and challenges protagonist Jin Sakai to confront some emotional past events. It also boasts improved visuals and uses the DualSense controller to give you a tactile sensation of sword-fighting in your hands, making it the best version yet of one of PlayStation’s most impressive titles.

God of War Ragnarok (PS5)

Gran Turismo 7 (PS5)

Following the competitive esports focus of Gran Turismo Sport, Gran Turismo 7 moves back to the beloved RPG-style gameplay that Polyphony Digital has been known for in its long-running racing simulation series. The attractive driving mechanics and the chance to collect numerous cars will captivate players, much like collecting Pokémon in a game. For those who prefer a competitive edge, the online play style introduced by GT Sport continues, offering the most comprehensive Gran Turismo experience in recent years. As a gamer, I’ve just dived into Horizon Call of the Mountain, the launch title for PSVR2. This isn’t just another chapter in Guerrilla’s post-apocalyptic world; it’s a fresh start. The narrative might be complex at times, but the gameplay, centered around precision platforming high above the ground, is flawlessly designed. It makes you feel like an agile mountaineer navigating through a hostile environment. The stunning vistas and immense scale of the game leave me awestruck, creating a heart-pounding action adventure that truly showcases what Sony’s new headset is capable of.

Horizon Forbidden West (PS5)

As a die-hard fan, I can confidently say that the follow-up to Guerrilla Games’ smash hit, Horizon Zero Dawn, not only builds upon its predecessor but surpasses it in every aspect imaginable. Horizon Forbidden West might tread familiar ground with its open-world RPG adventure, yet it significantly elevates its narrative by introducing a captivating ensemble of characters for our heroine Aloy to interact with. The combat and exploration experiences are enriched with the addition of a grappling hook, adding an extra layer of intensity to the gameplay. Moreover, the Forbidden West serves as a vast, diverse playground teeming with unique biomes and hidden treasures waiting to be uncovered.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (PS5)

Remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4

Horizon Zero Dawn stands out as one of Sony’s most impressive projects from the past decade, and the stunning remaster by Nixxes makes it one of the best-looking games on the PS5.
