I’m so excited! ArenaNet and 2weeks have just announced that Guild Wars Reforged is coming to PC! It’s launching on December 3rd, and you’ll be able to get it either through Steam or directly from ArenaNet for just $19.99. Can’t wait to jump back in!
As a long-time Guild Wars player, it’s awesome to hear that the team is still working on making the original game even better after all these years! The game director, Stephen Clarke-Willson, said they’re really focused on improving the experience for us fans. They know we’re a dedicated bunch, and this update is meant to bring in new players while giving us veterans a reason to jump back into Tyria and keep adventuring together. It’s really encouraging to see that commitment to a game so many of us love!
As a longtime gamer, I’m super excited about this! I actually got involved with the original Guild Wars when I was a teenager, and even worked with the people who first created the world of Tyria. Now, working with ArenaNet to update the game feels amazing – it means we can keep this beloved MMO going strong for years to come, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.

The complete original Guild Wars story – including the “Prophecies,” “Factions,” and “Nightfall” campaigns – is now available in one package, and it’s been verified to work on the Steam Deck. Current players will get this update for free, and it will also be available for new players on Steam and through the official website at guildwars.com. This update also introduces support for XInput controllers, letting you play with a wider range of gamepads for the first time.
The latest update to Guild Wars goes beyond just adding controller support. It also enhances the overall game experience with improvements like support for high-resolution monitors, sharper HD icons, better graphics (including antialiasing and lighting effects), more customizable text sizes, improved 3D sound, and a new quest tracker to guide players to their next objective – whether they’re playing on a monitor or a TV.
Guild Wars Reforged is being created through a partnership between ArenaNet and a studio called 2weeks. 2weeks was founded in 2024 by former ArenaNet employees who were eager to revisit the Guild Wars series after a 15-year hiatus. The team at 2weeks collectively has over 14 years of experience working on the original Guild Wars at ArenaNet.
