Having just concluded my observation of Gundam GQuuuuuuX, it seems that the narrative we witnessed didn’t show Zeon emerging victorious in their ongoing war against the Earth Federation. With creator Hideaki Anno seemingly absent for a second season, the Gundam universe swiftly reassured its audience that fresh stories are brewing. In rapid sequence, the mech series unveiled a new trailer to confirm the upcoming sequel of Hathaway’s Flash. The title Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway’s Flash: The Witch of Circe has debuted its first trailer, and the sequel is set to hit theaters much sooner than one might anticipate.
In 2021, the reboot of the movie known as “Hathaway’s Flash” was released, drawing fans of mech technology back to the world where the series all began. Set years after Amuro and Char’s initial confrontation, Hathaway Noah was introduced as the likely successor to both mech pilots. Initially planned as a trilogy, the second installment will have plenty of ground to cover following the events of the first film. Although a Japanese theater release date has not been announced yet, it’s confirmed that “The Witch of Circe” will be out later this year. Conversely, the North American release date for the sequel of Hathaway’s Flash remains unknown, but given the popularity of the franchise, we anticipate it will make its way to Western screens soon enough.
Hathaway Returns
Even though it’s been years since the original “Hathaway’s Flash” film, the upcoming sequel titled “The Witch of Circe” is welcoming back several prominent cast members. The first movie’s director, Murase Shukou, will be reprising his role as director for this highly-awaited follow-up flick. Voice actor Ono Kensho will once again take on the main character, and he’ll be joined by Reina Ueda as Gigi, Junichi Suwabe as Kenneth Slegg, and Soma Saito as Lane Aim. Although the new trailer doesn’t reveal much about the sequel’s storyline, you can get a head start on the plot if you choose to delve into the original source material.
The story known as “Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash” initially debuted as a light novel series in 1989, penned by the creator of the Gundam franchise, Yoshiyuki Tomino. It continued to publish new volumes until its completion in 1990, significantly expanding the Universal Century timeline. Although “Gundam” is well-represented in the anime world, it’s far from being the only platform for this mech series.
I’m witnessing an exciting development: Legendary Pictures and Bandai Namco Filmworks are collaborating on a live-action Gundam project, similar to Netflix’s One Piece. No release date has been announced yet, but this venture promises to be a captivating addition to the series’ future, as Hollywood hasn’t previously tackled a major live-action adaptation of the mech series.
