Guy Fieri is dishing the details behind his new look. 

Guy Fieri, the host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, recently surprised fans with a new, more professional appearance – he shaved his trademark blonde spiky hair and goatee. However, this makeover was just for a temporary role in an upcoming Super Bowl LVI commercial.

On January 26th, Guy Fieri shared an Instagram post showing him getting a makeover. He’s sitting in front of a mirror wearing his usual leather jacket, goatee, and jewelry when someone starts to shave him. The video quickly cuts between his signature look and a clean-shaven, more corporate appearance, and Guy simply says, “I’m just a guy.”

Along with a short preview, Guy posted, “Just getting people excited for the Big Game!” and the hashtag #LikeABosch. He knew the Bosch commercial—which will air during the Super Bowl on February 8th—needed to be ambitious, even if his followers had different expectations.

I went into this project thinking, ‘Let’s go all out, and I’m in,'” the 58-year-old explained to Entertainment Weekly. “But honestly, after people see it, I plan to disconnect completely for about three weeks because I expect a lot of strong reactions.”

Guy’s wife, Lori Fieri, and their sons, Hunter, 29, and Ryder, 20, were all there to watch his makeover, which included shaving his face and trying on a dark brown wig.

“My wife said to me, ‘I gotta see this,” he said. “I gotta be there for this.’”

Guy recently revealed a surprising new look to celebrate his 58th birthday. He shared a photo on Instagram on January 22nd showing him clean-shaven, sporting a brown hairstyle, and wearing a button-down shirt with khaki pants.

Guy greeted the camera, then explained, “I’ve celebrated my birthday as ‘Guy’ for years, but this year I just wanted to celebrate as a regular guy.”

Fans were surprised by the makeover, but Ryan Reynolds’ son, Ryder, jokingly commented, “Dad… did you become an insurance salesman?”

Ryder wished the Mayor of Flavor Town a happy birthday by posting a video on his Instagram Story, adding a personal message: “Happy Birthday to the Mayor! Love you dad/just a Guy.”
