The new action movie from Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill is now available to watch at home much sooner than expected, right after its release in theaters.
Guy Ritchie’s new thriller, In the Grey, hit theaters on May 15th. Starring Henry Cavill, Eiza Gonzales, and Jake Gyllenhaal—all frequent collaborators with Ritchie—the film centers on a lawyer (Gonzales) who enlists the help of two specialists (Cavill and Gyllenhaal) to collect a $1 billion debt owed to her client by a dangerous criminal group.
The thriller In the Grey is now available to rent or buy on digital platforms like Apple TV, Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Fandango, and Vudu, just two and a half weeks after its theatrical release. It costs $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to purchase.
The film In the Grey has earned around $13.5 million globally, while its production cost was approximately $70 million. It was released alongside Obsession and Is God Is. Surprisingly, Obsession, made with a budget of less than $1 million, has become a huge success, earning over $148 million worldwide. This success, along with the strong opening of Backrooms on May 29th, shows a great performance for horror films in theaters.
Despite getting mixed reviews from critics (currently 48% on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences seem to enjoy In the Grey, giving it an 83% rating. ScreenRant highlighted the strong performances from the actors and praised director Guy Ritchie’s ability to blend action with a compelling story.
Before its recent digital release, the film In the Grey had a complicated journey to theaters. Originally, Lionsgate planned to release the Guy Ritchie movie in January 2025, but it was removed from their schedule in November 2024 because it wasn’t finished. Later, Black Bear Pictures bought the U.S. distribution rights from Lionsgate. Ultimately, Black Bear released In the Grey in theaters themselves, with a premiere date set for May 2026.
I’m still waiting to find out where I’ll be able to stream In the Grey! There hasn’t been any news yet about which streaming service will get it first. It looks like it all depends on what deals the studio makes, and we’ll have to wait and see where Ritchie’s new action thriller ends up.
Following the release of In the Grey, Guy Ritchie has several more projects coming soon to both cinemas and streaming services. He’s scheduled to release the black comedy Wife & Dog, produced by Black Bear Pictures, in theaters on October 23, 2026. This year, viewers can also expect the return of his TV shows MobLand season 2 on Paramount+ and The Gentlemen season 2 on Netflix, both of which he’s directing and executive producing. Plus, season 2 of his popular Prime Video series Young Sherlock is currently being filmed.
