Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock Holmes series finally gets release date confirmed with starry first-look teaser

I’m so excited! They just dropped the first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s ‘Young Sherlock’ series on Prime Video, and we finally have a release date! I can’t wait to see it!

The new Sherlock Holmes series starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin will premiere all eight episodes on the streaming service on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026.

The latest trailer shows Sherlock heading to Oxford University, where his mother, Cordelia (played by Natascha McElhone), warns him to stay out of trouble. Of course, he doesn’t listen, and the trailer is full of action, including explosions and shootouts.

The trailer features the first encounter between Sherlock and his future enemy, James Moriarty, portrayed by Dónal Finn—a meeting that initially blossoms into a friendship.

Young Sherlock tells the story of how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective came to be, capturing the cleverness and energy of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes movies. It’s a fresh and exciting take on the character’s youth.

Sherlock Holmes is a troubled and inexperienced young man when he becomes involved in a murder investigation that puts his own freedom at risk.

The series begins with the detective’s very first case, which quickly becomes a worldwide conspiracy and dramatically alters his life. Set in 1870s Oxford and taking him on adventures overseas, the show reveals the youthful, rebellious beginnings of the man who will later become the famous resident of Baker Street.

Joining the cast are Zine Tseng, known for ‘3 Body Problem,’ as Princess Gulun Shou’an, Max Irons (‘Miss Austen’) as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, Joseph Fiennes (‘Prisoner 951’) as the father of Sherlock and Mycroft, Silas, and Colin Firth (‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’) as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.

Guy Ritchie, known for directing the previous Sherlock Holmes films, will direct the first two episodes of the series and also serve as an executive producer.
