I’ve always loved how Gwyneth and her kids, Apple and Moses, really get into the holiday spirit! It’s so sweet to see. But apparently, her husband, Brad Falchuk, isn’t quite as enthusiastic about all the festive cheer, which is totally fine too, I guess! It’s fun to see how different people celebrate.
Oh my god, Gwyneth gets it! She was talking about Christmas on her podcast, and honestly, I felt so seen. She totally loves everything about it – the decorations, the whole vibe. It’s just magical to her, which, same! She even said her husband is a bit of a Grinch, which, relatable, but she just dives headfirst into the holiday spirit! And Frank Sinatra? Yes, queen! She’s all about the music and really getting into decorating, and I’m just living for it. She understands the true meaning of Christmas!
Despite Brad being stuck in a bit of a funk and keeping to himself, Marty isn’t letting it ruin her holiday plans. She’s even willing to go along with his strange requests to try and cheer him up and get him feeling festive.
Gwyneth, who married Brad in 2018, said they usually stick to their usual menu. They experimented once with fried chicken, which she found unusual but Brad liked. This year, though, they’re planning to go with more classic dishes.
When it comes to dealing with her ex at events, the Oscar-winning actress has perfected a system over the past decade since their conscious uncoupling from Chris.
Gwyneth shared that spending the holidays as a family, however that family looks now, can be lovely. However, she emphasized it’s important not to sacrifice your own comfort or personal boundaries in the process, especially after a divorce.
Of course, she admitted that navigating a blended family is not a one size fits all situation.
It really depends on the person,” she explained. “Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone, work on love and forgiveness, and prioritize connection with others?”
The actress, known for her role in Shakespeare in Love, explained she made a conscious effort to remember only the positive things about her ex-partner. She said focusing on what she loved about him, rather than the reasons they broke up, was a helpful way to cope.
