Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who had been silent, spoke out about the conduct of her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, during his imprisonment for killing her mother.

In my own words, I acknowledge the responsibility for my actions, and now, I reclaim my life. When I accepted the consequences of my decisions, I shouldered the burden of those choices. I’ve served my time. That was my accountability, a debt I’ve paid for years. I owe nothing more to the past, it is behind me.

Regarding Nicholas Godejohn, yes, he is undeniably troubled. However, he also understood the difference between right and wrong.

In a social media post, there was a video excerpt from an interview featuring Godejohn (aged 35). He opened up about his personal struggles with mental health during the discussion. Meanwhile, Gypsy added her perspective on how their roles in the tragic death of Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard varied.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to emphasize that while I might unknowingly employ certain manipulative tactics due to past experiences and emotional limitations, it’s essential to recognize that these actions aren’t driven by malicious intent. Instead, they stem from fears such as abandonment or a lack of emotional resources. The crucial distinction lies in the intention – although I may not be consciously trying to deceive or control others, my behaviors can still have an impact on those around me. Awareness of this pattern and a commitment to personal growth are key steps towards correcting it.

Gypsy, who had been serving time for a second-degree murder conviction following the death of Dee Dee at age 48 in Missouri in June 2015 due to multiple stab wounds, was released from prison on parole three months early and is set to be fully freed in December 2023.

In a turn of events, Godejohn confessed to taking the life of Dee Dee and was subsequently given a life sentence in prison, with no chance of ever being granted parole following his conviction for first-degree murder.

Nicholas chose to act on that evening’s events, and he must face the repercussions of his actions,” she emphasized. “Being diagnosed with Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome does not absolve him from responsibility for his actions. While mental health is intricate, it’s crucial to remember that accountability is essential, and nobody is immune to the law.

Gypsy stated, “The outcome was determined by a group consisting of judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and a jury of twelve. They all examined the evidence that had been shared online. Unfortunately, his attempts at appeals have failed. Each court has concurred with the initial verdict.

Gypsy made it clear that she “will not carry his actions” on her shoulders anymore.

She penned, “I’ve accepted what’s mine. This next phase will be about healing, progress, and reclaiming my life. It represents freedom for me.” Moving on with a sense of clarity, tranquility, and self-forgiveness, she continued her journey. The verdict has been given, concluding the case. This outcome serves justice not only for DeeDee but also for myself, who was let down by the system throughout my life.

In her statement, Gypsy expressed that she felt justice was accomplished following her time in prison. She also acknowledged that nothing she could say would undo the pain or bring Dee Dee back. However, from the bottom of her heart, she will persistently offer her deepest apologies to them, now and forever.

Gypsy, the mother of baby Aurora (born last year with Ken Urker), ended her speech expressing gratitude towards those who stood up for her.

And to those who predicted my downfall… who said, ‘She’ll return to prison,’ or swore I wouldn’t last a day, I owe you gratitude as well. You kindled a fire within me.
