With a Metacritic score of 95, *Hades 2* is currently the highest-rated game of the year. After years of anticipation, Supergiant Games has delivered a fantastic sequel. Reviewers are raving about its smooth combat, compelling story, and richer take on mythology. While *Hades 2* is a strong contender for Game of the Year in 2025, several other excellent games are also in the running.
Among the noteworthy games is *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the first release from Sandfall Interactive. Coming in 2025, Split Fiction is a must-play cooperative game from Hazelight Studios, offering a surprisingly emotional story for a multiplayer experience. Also on the horizon is Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Bananza, a brand-new 3D platformer and the first time Donkey Kong has ventured into 3D since Donkey Kong 64. With its inventive level design and environments you can destroy, it’s a standout title for the Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing Nintendo’s skill in the platforming genre.
I’m so hyped to finally see *Hollow Knight: Silksong* on the list of must-play games for 2025! Seriously, this game has been in development for seven years, and all the previews suggest it was worth the wait. Everyone who’s played it raves about how smooth and precise the gameplay is, and the world looks absolutely incredible. Some people think it might be pretty difficult, but I’m up for the challenge!
