In 2020, Haruichi Furudate’s popular manga “Haikyu!!” wrapped up its captivating tale in Weekly Shonen Jump. So far, the anime adaptation has not fully covered the manga. Last year saw the release of “Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle,” which was the first part of the final two movies. As announced in March 2025, the second film, titled “Haikyuu!! vs. The Little Giant,” will focus on the intense match between Karasuno and Kamomedai High Schools. Details regarding its release window and additional information remain undisclosed. In anticipation of learning more about this highly-anticipated adaptation, there’s exciting news for Haikyu!! fans: a special YouTube broadcast has been confirmed!
Today’s a great day for fans to admire this heartwarming series and its creator, especially since it’s celebrating ten years! The anniversary makes the occasion even more special, and on August 19th at 8:00 PM JST, a unique program will be broadcast. Hinagarasu, the beloved mascot character resembling Shoyo Hinata in a small crow form, will be hosting the event and expressing gratitude towards Shueisha, the manga publisher, and Production I.G., the anime studio. More details about the program will be revealed at a later time.
What to Expect from Haikyuu!! Movie: vs. Chiisana Kyojin
In the “Dumpster Battle” film, Karasuno overcame one of their toughest rivals, Nekoma High, advancing them towards the Quarter Finals at the Spring National Tournament. Now, they’re set to face Kamomedai, a team renowned for their exceptional serving, blocking, and mental resilience – skills that are more formidable than any Karasuno has encountered thus far. What makes things even more intriguing is that Kamomedai also boasts their own version of Little Giant, their ace, Kōrai Hoshiumi, who views Hinata as his counterpart, acknowledging his exceptional talents. The rivalry between them intensifies due to the fact that they are both short players who managed to reach the Nationals as starters on their respective teams.
Will Haikyu!! Adapt the Final Arc?
Prior to the unveiling of an official trailer, there was confirmation that Haikyuu!! vs. The Little Giant would serve as the final anime installment. Initially, it was planned for the anime to end with the release of the last two films. However, since March this year, the website no longer labels it as “final,” leading many to speculate about a possible Season 5 or additional film following its release. The manga concludes the Tokyo Nationals Arc in Chapter 369 and initiates the Final Arc in Chapter 370. The main story comes to an end in Chapter 403, making this arc significantly shorter than previous ones.
In simpler terms, the storyline of the latest season picks up Hinata’s volleyball journey several years following his high school graduation. Along the way, he reconnects with his former teammates and adversaries from his high school days. However, at this moment, it remains uncertain whether the anime will translate the final arc from the manga. As fans eagerly anticipate the comeback of Haikyu!!, any fresh adaptation is bound to be a hit among viewers.
