Get ready to run! The upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved is said to be the foundation for how future Halo games will play. According to information shared on Twitter by Halo Leaks, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are also planned to receive complete remakes, and these versions will include sprinting. However, similar to the remake of the original game, these remakes won’t feature competitive multiplayer modes.
Rumors suggest the next Halo game, likely Halo 7, will feature a remake similar to the Resident Evil series. However, Halo Studios has only confirmed that several new Halo projects are currently in development. Interestingly, this same source accurately predicted the Halo: Combat Evolved remake before it was officially announced, despite initial speculation it would simply be a remastered version.
The remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is currently scheduled for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It will include features like sprinting and four-player co-op for the campaign, as well as three weapons from previous Halo games and modifications to the original levels. These level changes have drawn criticism from the original level designer, Jamie Griesemer, but co-creator Marcus Lehto has praised the remake’s visuals, calling it “gorgeous.”
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are getting complete remakes, and they will include sprinting. However, these remakes will only feature the campaign; multiplayer won’t be included. Multiplayer will be a focus for Halo 7 instead.
