After showcasing its three new prologue missions, Halo: Combat Evolved has now released a standard cinematic trailer. It features a beautifully updated version of the original game’s opening, along with impressive new gameplay footage (recorded on PS5 Pro!), and it’s a noticeable improvement over last year’s initial reveal.
The game showcases several features not found in the original Halo: Combat Evolved or its Anniversary edition. For example, you’ll see Master Chief commandeering a Ghost vehicle from the enemy – a capability first added in Halo 2 and now included in this updated version. Keep an eye out for the SMG weapon too, which debuted in the sequel.
Naturally, Halo: Combat Evolved takes some liberties with the existing storyline, letting Chief wield Energy Swords, sprint, and even drive a Wraith tank. For the first time, you can also play through the campaign with up to three friends online in co-op mode, although there isn’t a competitive player-versus-player mode.
Halo: Campaign Evolved comes out on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5. If you buy the Premium or Collector’s Edition, you can start playing five days early! These editions also include a digital art book called Halo: Hungry Buzzards by Troy Denning, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and a digital manual inspired by the original Halo game.
