Halo Studios unveiled a new trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved at the Xbox Games Showcase, showcasing the stunning visuals of the Prologue missions, now powered by UE5. But the biggest surprise for many longtime fans was the reveal of a third-person gameplay perspective.
A new item called “Perspective” lets you replay old missions in a fresh way. Early gameplay of the “Silent Cartographer” mission looks great, and even if the new Sprint feature isn’t for everyone, it’s cool to see the animations from this different angle. The developers have also added some nice details, like a glow around Master Chief’s armor when he has an overshield.
A common complaint about recent Halo games is that you can’t really see your character’s armor because the game is played from a first-person perspective. Halo: Combat Evolved doesn’t have a shop where you buy items, but you can unlock different armor skins for Master Chief, and because the game sometimes shows him from a third-person view, you can actually see and appreciate how they look.
The game releases on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, costing $49.99. Players who purchase the Premium Edition will be able to start playing five days early and will also receive the Alpha Armory Pack, featuring five unique character skins – one of which is made entirely of pieces from the Needler weapon.
