Halo Franchise Might be Getting a New Game With Planned PS5 Release – Rumour

It appears that Microsoft could potentially bring one of its leading game series, Halo, to the PlayStation 5. According to recent news by Rebs Gaming, there are signs in the Halo API suggesting that a new game from this popular franchise may be coming to Sony’s console.

As reported by Rebs Gaming, the data miner known as gruntdotapi disclosed a finding through a post on social media site X. In this post, they mentioned that at present, there’s no indication of a Nintendo Switch 2 adaptation for the same game. When asked questions, gruntdotapi additionally pointed out that the specific Halo title in discussion has distinct title IDs – unique identifiers used in databases – compared to previously released Halo games such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite.

The data analyst observed that often, multiplayer games such as Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, and Grounded – which were initially released on other platforms like PlayStation – had compatibility with PlayStation or Switch added to their physical editions just before they were formally confirmed for those systems. Conversely, the Halo series has not been announced on any new platform yet, suggesting that an announcement might be imminent and the game may launch simultaneously on multiple platforms from the start.

It’s possible that the upcoming Halo game may offer cross-platform multiplayer across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, given the presence of APIs compatible with PlayStation and PlayFab. However, since this is based on rumors, it’s wise to approach the information with some skepticism. Additionally, it’s important to remember that datamining can sometimes reveal unused code or features that were initially planned but ultimately scrapped for the game.

It’s possible that the announcement of a new Halo project could take place during the Halo World Championship event in October. In July, Halo Studios hinted at revealing something at this event, and they will also be commemorating a year since the company changed its name from 343 Industries.

During Halo World Championship of last year, our team debuted ‘A New Dawn’, a presentation that covered our transition to Unreal Engine, provided an exclusive glimpse into Project Foundry, and unveiled our transformation into Halo Studios. This marked a new era for Halo. We see ‘A New Dawn’ as the start of something fresh, and we eagerly anticipate further discussions on these topics during this year’s Halo World Championship.

While guessing can be entertaining, for the genuine updates about Halo Studios’ projects, don’t forget to attend this year’s Halo World Championship! We would be thrilled if you could join us in Seattle during October.

The studio has previously mentioned that they are currently engaged in various game development projects, with the latest ones being created utilizing Unreal Engine 5. Although specifics haven’t been disclosed yet, rumors suggest that the studio has started testing these upcoming games as well.
