Halo Infinite Is in Fact Finite, Dev Focusing on Campaign Evolved for PS5

Halo Studios will now primarily focus on developing Halo: Campaign Evolved, the updated version of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, which is scheduled for release on PS5 next year.

The team announced a change for the Halo Infinite game, confirming they will no longer be releasing new content updates. Originally, the game was planned to receive support for more than ten years, but updates will now stop after only four years.

With several Halo games currently being worked on, we need everyone on the team to focus their efforts on creating new experiences that live up to the passion and support our community has shown us, according to a studio representative.

To be honest, the recent content update is pretty substantial, and the game isn’t being completely shut down. The studio will continue to support it and keep the servers running.

But the team says it needs to now focus on what’s next:

With the Halo Studios team now concentrating on upcoming projects like Halo: Campaign Evolved, we want to express our gratitude to all our Halo Infinite players for their continued support over the years.

Since Halo: Campaign Evolved doesn’t have traditional player-versus-player (PvP) multiplayer, rumors suggest Halo Studios might be developing a separate, free-to-play game for PlayStation 5 that includes the competitive modes fans expect from the Halo series.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited to hear that Master Chief and the whole Halo universe are going multiplatform, especially with the PS5 getting involved! It makes me wonder what other surprises are coming, beyond just the remake they’ve already announced. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
