Project Misriah is a multiplayer mod for Counter-Strike 2 that’s heavily inspired by the game Halo. It’s built using CS2’s new scripting features, which allow modders to create completely custom game modes. The modding community has quickly started exploring what’s possible with these new tools, and Project Misriah is a great example of their creativity.
As a researcher working on this mod, I’m really excited about what we’ve achieved. We’ve brought in weapons, sounds, character models, and movement that are heavily inspired by what I, and a lot of fans, consider the best Halo game: Halo 3. It’s all about capturing that classic feel.
Currently, the game features three maps: Ghost Town, High Ground, and Homefront. The development team is working on additional maps, which are expected to be released in the coming weeks after they’ve been finalized.
The project is currently facing some technical hurdles with the game engine, and its creator, Froddoyo, is requesting assistance from anyone skilled in scripting or the Source 2 engine.
Let’s first look at what’s already available in the modified Counter-Strike 2 before discussing what the team still needs to work on.
How the project works, who created it, and why they need help
Project Misriah is a Counter-Strike 2 mod created by Froddoyo, TheSlammerss, H8yse, Nitro, SirVeyza, ShmeeGrim, and Lydran. Available through the Steam Workshop, it adds content inspired by the Halo series, including weapons, damage, announcer voices, armor styles, and even Halo-like movement. The team has also recreated full Halo maps using the Source 2 engine.
The developers acknowledge some current technical hurdles. Once a modification is uploaded, recoil patterns can’t be changed, the animation tools have restrictions, and players can’t rename items or design their own crosshairs. The team is actively seeking assistance from those with expertise in these areas or knowledge of potential solutions.
The workshop page features a development plan showing upcoming additions like the rocket launcher, plasma rifle, and needler. It also highlights the return of popular power-ups such as Overshield and Active Camouflage. The team has hinted at more new maps and plans to make future updates feel even more like the original Halo game.
Once the project is officially launched, the developers intend to make all the source code available, allowing others to study it or use it as a foundation for their own creations. They also welcome players to share their honest opinions and suggestions.
You can download the mod now through the Steam Workshop. If you’d like to give it a try, a public server is available at Onlyzaps.gg, with the address 135.148.136.190:27015.
Community reactions and early impressions

People are responding really well to the project, and the community seems to love it. Several posts have gained a lot of traction – some even exceeding 14,000 likes on X, formerly known as Twitter – which is fantastic considering it was created by fans for CS2.
Many longtime Halo fans are saying this feels like the most authentic Halo game since the original developers, Bungie, were in charge. But it’s worth remembering that Halo Reach, despite being a great game, changed quite a bit too. Let’s not forget features like sprinting and armor lock – those weren’t in the original games!
The mod still uses some elements from Counter-Strike 2, and occasionally those parts look a little different from everything else. The creators are working to fix these small issues, and so far, players are really enjoying it. It currently has a five-star rating on the Steam Workshop, which shows how well it’s been received.
If you’re interested in contributing, the developers are active on X and welcome help. I’m excited about the potential of this project to create a truly immersive, Halo-inspired experience within Counter-Strike 2.
