Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, seems to be experiencing internal problems, particularly with its leadership. A recent video from Rebs Gaming details a troubling incident that occurred a few days ago, and it appears to involve art director Glenn Israel.
Israel has worked on the *Halo* series for over 15 years, starting in 2008 and continuing through the transition from Bungie to 343 Industries and the *Destiny* franchise. He recently left Halo Studios, where he had been working since 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Israel announced he’s leaving Halo Studios in a LinkedIn post, explaining that he can’t share the full reasons right now. He says he’ll share the complete story next year, when he’s able to.
Israel acknowledged the challenges facing our industry, but reminded everyone that they have the power to make their own choices. He emphasized that nothing – not even the promise of security, wealth, or success – is worth sacrificing your well-being, integrity, or principles. Ultimately, he encouraged people to remain resilient, seek out facts when needed, and find a place where they feel they truly belong.
So, I’ve been following the news about Israel leaving Halo Studios, and Rebs Gaming shared some interesting info. They can’t say exactly *why* Israel left yet, but they’ve confirmed there are definitely some problems with the leadership at the studio. Apparently, they’re waiting for their sources to give them the okay before they can share the full story, which is frustrating but understandable!
Later in the video, Rebs Gaming highlighted that Israel was one of nine people on the art team credited in *Halo Infinite*. Interestingly, after Israel left the company, only one member of that original art team – art director Donnie Taylor – still works at the studio.
It’s been known for a while – even since the releases of *Halo: The Master Chief Collection* and *Halo 5: Guardians* – that 343 Industries and Halo Studios have been dealing with internal leadership challenges. Recent layoffs across Microsoft’s Xbox division added to the pressure, and a July report indicated tensions were already high at Halo Studios.
One Halo Studios employee expressed strong frustration that an email from Phil Spencer highlighted Xbox’s record-breaking profits while also announcing layoffs. The employee questioned what aspect of this situation they were expected to feel positive about, noting the jarring contrast between success and job cuts. This email was sent to developers across all Xbox Game Studios before the layoffs were implemented.
Halo Studios plans to reveal its next big project at the Halo World Championship event on October 24th.
