Halo World Championship Announcement Teased by Master Chief’s Voice Actor

Halo Studios has promised an announcement at the Halo World Championship event on October 24th, and now Steve Downes, the voice of Master Chief, is hinting at even bigger news. Downes also shared a shout-out to Jen Taylor, who voices the AI Cortana, and confirmed that both he and Taylor will be attending the HaloWC event.

Downes shared that they supported Jen Taylor at an event in Chicago last weekend. They’re both looking forward to seeing everyone at the Halo World Championships in Seattle on October 24th and 25th, and hinted at a major announcement coming soon!

Halo Studios will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of its name change (formerly 343 Industries) at an upcoming event, where they’ll make a new announcement. They also plan to share updates on their current projects and host a detailed discussion panel.

The studio announced they’ll be continuing discussions started at last year’s HaloWC and in the ‘A New Dawn’ video, sharing updates on their current projects. Similar to last year, they’ll be presenting on the Main Stage, but this year they’re also hosting a more detailed panel discussion on the Community Stage that fans should definitely check out.

Rumors suggest a remake of the original *Halo: Combat Evolved*, first released in 2001 for PC and the original Xbox, is on the way. A recent report indicates the remake, developed with Virtuos, will follow a similar approach to *The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered*. This means it will likely use a combination of old and new technology – the core game will still run on its original engine, but with updated graphics and gameplay built using a modern engine like Unreal Engine 5.

Earlier this year, rumors suggested the remake will only cover the original game’s campaign, and won’t include any competitive multiplayer. These reports also stated that Halo Studios is developing a separate multiplayer game called *Ekur*, which is planned as a battle royale experience.

Halo Studios is expected to announce a new game soon, but recent reports suggest the company has been facing internal problems. A rumor last week pointed to leadership issues, which reportedly led to the exit of art director Glenn Israel. In his announcement about leaving, Israel stated he could only fully explain his experience at the studio next year, when it’s safe to do so.

If you’re a fan of *Halo* and looking for something new to play, the weapons from *Halo 3: ODST* are now available in the co-op shooter *Helldivers 2* through a special crossover event called the Legendary Warbond.
