
Jewish celebrities’ Hanukkah celebrations are shining bright this year.
Alan Bersten, Emma Slater, Nev Schulman, and others have been sharing how they’re celebrating the holiday, which started on the evening of December 14th and continues for eight nights.
The professional dancer from Dancing With the Stars posted a picture of himself, Emma, and their dog Jeff celebrating the first night of Hanukkah by lighting the menorah.
I was so thrilled to see him embrace his Jewish heritage recently! He created a special Hanukkah dance for the holiday special on December 2nd, and it was amazing. The choreography actually showed things like menorahs and dreidels through the movements, and even included steps from the traditional Jewish Horah dance. Hearing Matisyahu’s “Miracle” playing during it all just made it even more special – it was a really beautiful and meaningful moment.
Alan explained that people celebrate holidays uniquely, and growing up Jewish, he rarely saw Hanukkah represented. He shared that their performance tonight was specifically to celebrate the holiday, featuring a move inspired by a spinning top. He hopes a young Jewish viewer will watch and feel a sense of pride and recognition.
Nev wished a happy Hanukkah to everyone celebrating, sharing a heartwarming photo with his wife, Laura Perlongo, and their three children: Cleo (9), Beau (6), and Cy (4).
On December 15th, the host of Catfish shared on Instagram that the light of the menorah reminds us that love is strongest when we unite. This message was for their family, and for all families.
