Happy Valley and Baby Reindeer stars join Bella Ramsey in Sunny Dancer

The upcoming comedy movie, Sunny Dancer, is now attracting a lot of attention due to its impressive lineup – as three prominent actors have recently signed on alongside Bella Ramsey from The Last of Us.

In the upcoming movie, actors like James Norton from Happy Valley, Jessica Gunning known for Baby Reindeer, and five-time Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris will appear. This film marks the second project of up-and-coming British director George Jaques, following Black Dog released in 2023.

Previously, I was thrilled to learn that both Louis Partridge from Disclaimer and Ruby Stokes, known for her work in Lockwood & Co, were set to join the cast as well.

Principal photography for Sunny Dancer begins in April, with the movie categorized as a heartfelt, comedic-drama about growth. The story revolves around a character named Ramsey, who spends her summer at a camp designed for youth struggling with cancer.

The summary goes on: “Ivy has made it into her own well-deserved remission, yet she views ‘Chemo Camp’ as something to be avoided, finding it embarrassing (‘Cringe!’) and not worth attending (‘Hard Pass!’).

Instead, consider this version: “In reality, ‘Sunny Dancer’ is centered around transforming challenging situations into the most cherished experiences in life, filled with love, genuine friendships, and a touch of humor and positivity.

At present, there isn’t much detail provided about the characters that the new cast members will portray. However, Jacques expressed (as reported by Variety) his immense enthusiasm for having such immensely skilled individuals on board. He stated that they are eager to collaborate in telling a tale that is both hilariously funny and emotionally impactful.

He commented: “My intention is to make the crowd laugh so hard they’ll cry, later on make them cry sincerely, and ultimately leave with a renewed viewpoint about how the youth, in their struggle for survival, are perceived – not as victims, but as courageous, intricate, and brimming with life.

I’m thrilled to share that I find myself in the midst of some exciting news about the ever-active Sir Ian McKellen! Just a few days ago, it was officially announced that he’ll be joining the star-studded cast for House of the Dragon’s third season, and hot off the presses, I learned he’s been cast in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming movie, Wife & Dog. Simply put, it’s a dream come true to see such a talented actor gracing our screens once again!

In his latest appearances, he can be found in the Netflix movie “Joy” and the ITV series “Playing Nice”. Additionally, you might catch him in future historical dramas such as “King and Conqueror” and “House of Guinness”.
