Harris Dickinson reveals why playing John Lennon in four The Beatles movies is a “dream” – but with challenges

A series of four upcoming Beatles biopics is generating a lot of excitement, and one of the actors involved recently shared details about landing his ideal part in Sam Mendes’s highly anticipated films.

He said it was an incredible experience, calling it unique to play against someone so talented. While a bit intimidating, he found it deeply rewarding, describing it as a chance to explore a really complex and challenging role – something he thoroughly enjoyed.

He added that he feels grateful to come to work each day and explore that question – figuring out who and what ‘that’ refers to.

Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will take on the role of Ringo Starr in the upcoming films. Filming began earlier this summer and is expected to be extensive.

Although filming is expected to last up to 15 months before all four movies are released together in 2028, Dickinson remains enthusiastic and undeterred by the significant time commitment.

He admitted it takes more time, but believes that’s ideal for an actor. He explained that actors want the chance to really focus on a project and fully commit to it – that’s what they strive for.

It was an amazing moment.

The official description for The Beatles’ new four-film release states: “Each member has a unique story, but together, they created a legendary legacy.”

The Beatles films will be released in April 2028 and Urchin is now showing in UK cinemas
