Harrison Ford Suggests ‘Shrinking’ Could Be the End of His Career

For decades, Harrison Ford has been a beloved actor, and it seems like he’ll always be a presence in film and television. Starting his career in the 1960s, he’s become a true icon, especially known for his roles in blockbuster franchises like Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Indiana Jones, which have made him a household name. Though he’s primarily a film actor, Ford also has a strong background in television.

Harrison Ford’s latest television role is in Season 3 of Shrinking, where he plays Paul, a therapist living with Parkinson’s disease. His performance has been widely praised, earning him award nominations, including a Golden Globe nod for Best Supporting Actor in 2025. Given his long and successful career, and at the age of 83, many anticipate Ford will retire soon. He recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he feels Shrinking is a fitting project to conclude his acting career.

So, what’s next? Considering the resources we’ve had, the work we’ve accomplished is truly impressive, and that’s what this project is all about. Even if this were the end, it would be a great achievement. This job has been particularly meaningful for me – and I’ve been doing this for years. It’s truly special; it’s fulfilling and makes me feel like our work matters. That’s what I look for in my career, and I’m glad I’ve found it here.

‘Shrinking’ Is a Perfect Project for Harrison Ford to End His Career On

What makes Harrison Ford’s work in Shrinking so noteworthy is how different it is from his usual roles. He’s already a legend, famous for iconic characters like Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Some people might have expected Shrinking to be a low-effort project, or a way for Ford to prove he could play something other than a typical action star. But the show has been a success, and it’s given Ford a chance to showcase his impressive acting abilities and range.

It’s sad to think about any actor taking on their last role, but it’s a natural part of life. Harrison Ford’s work on Shrinking feels like a fitting choice for his final project. He’s been fantastic in Season 3, especially alongside Michael J. Fox. Although Ford doesn’t share his character’s illness – Parkinson’s – the story of a man trying to manage health challenges while continuing a beloved career resonates with many viewers.

Look, just because Harrison Ford said a few things on that Apple TV panel doesn’t mean he’s retiring! While it seems pretty safe to say we won’t see another Indiana Jones movie with him, I definitely think he’ll keep acting. He might choose roles that are a little less physically demanding, you know? And good news for fans of Shrinking – Apple already greenlit both seasons three and four, so we’re guaranteed to see at least one more season with him as Paul, assuming everything goes according to plan.
