Channel 5 announced that ‘Murder Before Evensong,’ a six-episode crime series inspired by Reverend Richard Coles’ popular book, will premiere soon.
The new series, starring Matthew Lewis of Harry Potter fame, will premiere on Tuesday, October 7th at 9 PM.
Matthew Lewis is well-known for his role as Neville Longbottom in all eight Harry Potter movies. But he’s taking on a new character in the upcoming series, *Murder Before Evensong*, as seen in the show’s latest trailer.
This drama takes place in 1980s England and centers on Canon Daniel Clement, the local priest in the made-up village of Champton. He lives a quiet life with his mother, Audrey, and their two dachshunds.
When Daniel proposes updates to the church, the community quickly splits into opposing sides. The situation gets worse when a body is found on church grounds, and Daniel unexpectedly becomes involved in a murder investigation.

The drama’s cast features Amit Shah, known for his role in “Mr Bates vs The Post Office,” playing detective sergeant Neil Vanloo, alongside Lewis and Redman.
The film also stars Adam James, known for his role in “The Day of the Jackal,” alongside Meghan Treadway (“One Day”), Marion Bailey (“The Crown”), Amanda Hadingue (“Kaos”), Tamzin Outhwaite (“The Wives”), Francis Magee (“Kin”), Nina Toussaint-White (“Showtrial”), and rising talent Alexander Delamain.
Nick Hicks-Beach, known for his work on shows like DCI Banks and Midsomer Murders, is adapting the novel into a TV series. David Moore, who directed Fool Me Once, is directing this adaptation.
Murder Before Evensong will launch on 5 on Tuesday 7th October at 9pm.
