Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton Have Spellbinding Reunion

Almost 25 years after the first Harry Potter movie came out, some of the original cast – including actors who played rivals on screen – reunited at a showing of the movie Merrily We Roll Along in New York City.

Photos captured a heartwarming moment between Daniel and Tom, who were all smiles as they shared a friendly hug. Daniel, known for his role in the 2023 Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along with Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez, dressed in a denim jacket, brown t-shirt, and black pants. Tom complemented the look with a caramel-colored peacoat, a white t-shirt, and patterned brown pants.

As a huge fan, I was so thrilled to hear about the Wizarding World reunion! It’s amazing to see Tom Felton continuing his incredible run as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway – he really is perfect for the role. He actually reached out to Daniel Radcliffe for advice about making his Broadway debut last month, and it’s so sweet to know Daniel, who won a Tony for Merrily We Roll Along last year, was there to help him navigate it all. It just proves how close they still are, and it makes me love them both even more!

Tom shared that he’s been inspired by Hugh Jackman, joking on Good Morning America on November 5th that he saw Jackman in one of his earliest Broadway shows over a decade ago. He added that seeing Jackman’s success, including winning a Tony Award, is a big reason why Broadway feels so magical.

Although Daniel encouraged his former Harry Potter colleague to perform on stage, he’s finished playing the main character—at least for the time being.

In a 2022 interview with the New York Times, Daniel Radcliffe said he felt he’d successfully moved on from his time with Harry Potter and was content with his current life. He explained that returning to that world would be a huge disruption to everything he’s built since then.

Although the 36-year-old didn’t rule it out completely, he said he wasn’t currently interested in pursuing it.

Daniel Radcliffe will always be thankful for the role of Harry Potter, which launched his career. However, he’s actively worked to move beyond his child-star image, beginning with his challenging Broadway debut in Equus in 2007.

He followed that with lighter roles in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011) and has since divided his time between stage productions like The Cripple of Inishmaan, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead, and his Tony-winning performance in Merrily We Roll Along, and films such as The Woman in Black, Victor Frankenstein, and Swiss Army Man.

Radcliffe often chooses roles with a darker edge, like his portrayal of a morphine-addicted doctor in A Young Doctor’s Notebook or a low-level angel in Miracle Workers. He also played the villain opposite Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in the 2022 romantic comedy The Lost City, brilliantly portrayed musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in the biographical parody Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and contributed voice work to the animated series Mulligan.

Radcliffe has been with actress Erin Darke since they met on the set of 2013’s Kill Your Darlings, where he played poet Alan Ginsberg. They have a son together, born in April 2023.

Emma Watson, who grew up in both Paris and England, landed the role of Hermione Granger with little acting experience – it was her first professional job. After finishing the Harry Potter films, she balanced her studies at Brown University (where she earned a degree in English literature in 2014) with roles in independent films like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring.

She later starred as Belle in the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast and played Meg March in the 2019 adaptation of Little Women. Following these roles, Watson decided to take a break from acting, a decision she admits was scary but ultimately felt right.

In a 2023 interview with British Vogue, she explained that stepping away gave her a newfound sense of independence and creative control. She valued the freedom to explore her own voice and wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

Since then, Watson has returned to school, enrolling in a creative writing program at Oxford, and launched her own gin brand, Renais, with her brother Alex Watson. She’s also directed some commercials. Throughout her career, she’s worked as a model for brands like Burberry and Lancôme and has been a dedicated advocate for gender equality.

Rupert Grint, known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, seemed perfectly born for the role. After the series ended, he appeared in several British productions, including the Agatha Christie mystery The ABC Murders and the dark comedy Sick Note, where he played a man who pretends to have cancer.

He also took on roles in the film CBGB, about the famous New York punk club, the French comedy Moonwalkers, and projects with M. Night Shyamalan, including the series Servant and the movie Knock at the Cabin.

However, Grint admitted it took time to adjust to life after playing Ron for so many years. In a 2018 interview with Radio Times, he said he felt like he’d missed out on normal experiences and wanted to reconnect with friends and have a life outside of Harry Potter. He described himself as not overly ambitious, but eager to prove himself.

Shyamalan was impressed with Grint’s transformation, telling EW.com that he’d never seen a child actor reinvent themselves so successfully.

In May 2020, Grint and his longtime partner, Georgia Groome, welcomed their daughter, Wednesday G. Grint.

Matthew Lewis, the actor who played Neville Longbottom, has gotten the most attention for his impressive transformation. Pictures of his grown-up appearance have quickly spread around the world.

Actor Lewis has built a career primarily in England, appearing in television and films like the BBC miniseries The Syndicate, the emotional drama Me Before You, and the thriller Terminal alongside Margot Robbie. He particularly enjoyed his role as a soldier in the BBC Three series Bluestone 42, a comedy-drama about a bomb disposal unit in Afghanistan, calling it a uniquely fulfilling experience. He told RadioTimes.com that while being part of Harry Potter was amazing, he felt more connected to and proud of Bluestone 42 than any other project. Other roles include appearances in Avoidance, All Creatures Great & Small, Baby Done, and Ripper Street. Lewis is known to be private, but he married Angela Jones in 2018, and the couple revisited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter—where they first met—in October 2019.

Though he played the villainous Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, Tom Felton is known as a kind and genuine person. Since 2011, he’s appeared in a variety of projects, starting with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and moving towards more character-driven roles in films like Belle and A United Kingdom.

He surprised many fans with his appearance as Julian Albert, aka Dr. Alchemy, on the TV show The Flash in 2016. He’s also been in the sci-fi drama Origin, and the films Ophelia, Braking for Whales, Burial, and Some Other Woman.

In addition to acting, Felton is a singer-songwriter and has released several EPs throughout his career.

The actor was in a seven-year relationship with Jade Olivia Gordon, who later played Astoria Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, before they separated in 2016. He is now in a relationship with Roxanne Danya. In his 2022 memoir, Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard, he discussed his challenges with early fame, past struggles with substance abuse, and clarified the nature of his relationship with Emma Watson.

He admitted he’d always held a special fondness for Emma, though not necessarily a romantic one. While they’ve definitely felt a connection at different points, it never blossomed into a relationship. Despite this, they share a deep platonic love. ‘I wasn’t ever in love with Emma,’ he clarified, ‘but I truly loved and admired her as a person in a way I could never fully articulate.’

Bonnie Wright began playing Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films at just 10 years old, evolving from a supporting character to a significant role as Harry’s love interest.

After graduating from the London College of Communication, she founded her own production company, BonBonLumière, in 2012. Alongside acting in films like After the Dark and Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg?, Wright has also written and directed several short films. It was such a treat to see Bonnie Wright reconnect with some of her Harry Potter family – Evanna Lynch, Watson, Felton, and Lewis – back in 2019. She even shared a sweet photo with the caption ‘Time turning,’ and a little lightning bolt emoji – so magical!

Now, let’s talk life and love. Bonnie was previously engaged to Jamie Campbell Bower, who many of you will recognize as the young Grindelwald, but they went their separate ways in 2012. She then enjoyed a long-term relationship with Simon Hammerstein before finding ‘the one’ with Andrew Lococo in 2020. They tied the knot in March 2022, and I was thrilled to hear they welcomed their little boy, Elio, in September 2023! It’s wonderful to see her so happy.

Fred and George Weasley were famously played by identical twins, Oliver and James Phelps – though Oliver is actually thirteen minutes older! The brothers continued to play twins in other projects, like the films Our Own Worst Enemy and Last Night in Soho. She also described a dedicated ‘hate site’ that simply counted the number of people who disapproved of her being cast. She described the experience as ‘awful.’

Following her time in Harry Potter, Leung continued to act in theater and television in the U.K., appearing in productions like White Dragon, Chimerica, and The Nest. She also voiced the character Caitlyn in the animated series Arcane, and has appeared in Nightsleeper, Annika, Chemistry of Death, The Peripheral, and The Foreigner.

After becoming a mother in 2017, Poésy spoke openly about how much her life had changed.

Like many actors who played bullies in the Harry Potter films, Harry Melling is a genuinely kind person. During the series, he got very fit, almost leading to him being replaced before Deathly Hallows Part 1. Instead, he used prosthetics to continue playing Harry’s spoiled cousin.

Since then, Melling has consistently worked in both theater and film, appearing in projects like The Lost City of Z, the Coen brothers’ The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and the HBO series His Dark Materials.

He even collaborated with Joel Coen again, playing Malcolm in Coen’s adaptation of The Tragedy of Macbeth, alongside Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.
