The upcoming HBO series based on Harry Potter continues to grow its cast, with three new actors joining the production. Notably, one actor will share the role of Ron Weasley with Alastair Stout. The other two roles are smaller parts: a shopkeeper in Diagon Alley and a hotel manager. The inclusion of a hotel manager suggests the series may cover parts of the books that weren’t shown in the movies.
Naomi Wirther, known for her role in “Slow Horses,” is reportedly joining the cast of the new “Harry Potter” project as Madam Malkin. Her character runs Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, a shop in Diagon Alley that sells robes for wizards and witches. The shop is a familiar location from J.K. Rowling’s books, first appearing in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” when Hagrid takes Harry to buy his Hogwarts uniform. It continued to appear throughout the series, and was even the setting for a dramatic confrontation between Harry and Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
Actor Neil Edmond, known for his work in The Agency, is rumored to be playing a hotel manager in an upcoming project. Fans of Harry Potter have noticed a connection to the first book, The Sorcerer’s Stone. In that story, Harry’s family briefly stayed at the Railview Hotel after magical incidents. Many believe Edmond’s character will be the manager of that very hotel.
Harry Potter Casts A 2nd Ron Weasley Actor

There’s buzz about the potential casting of Louis Shelton as Ron Weasley in the new Harry Potter project. Apparently, he’ll be portraying a particular take on the character. (Minor spoilers ahead!) In the first book, The Sorcerer’s Stone, a key plot point revolves around the Mirror of Erised – a magical mirror at Hogwarts that shows people their greatest desires. When Harry and Ron find it, Harry sees himself growing up with his parents, while Ron envisions himself becoming as successful at school as his brother Percy.
I just heard some really cool news! Apparently, Louis Shelton is going to be playing the older Ron Weasley – the ‘Head Boy’ version we see in the Mirror of Erised. Looking at a side-by-side comparison, he really is an older Ron. It’s fun to imagine how much more confident and self-assured he’s become after years at Hogwarts – definitely a big change from the Ron and Alastair we know at the start of the story!
The upcoming HBO series appears to be a very faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels, including even the smallest details. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The show also features a strong supporting cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Each season will likely cover the plot of one book from the series.
I’m so excited about the cast they’ve assembled for the Harry Potter series! Luke Thallon is playing Quirinus Quirrell, and I’m thrilled to see Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. Lox Pratt will be Draco Malfoy, with Johnny Flynn as his father, Lucius. Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby are taking on Petunia and Vernon Dursley, and Katherine Parkinson is perfect casting as Molly Weasley. Young Amos Kitson is Dudley, and Rory Wilmot will be Neville Longbottom. Even better, Tristan and Gabriel Harland are sharing the roles of Fred and George Weasley! And the music? Hans Zimmer – the guy who did The Dark Knight – is composing the score, which is just incredible news. I can’t wait!
The new Harry Potter series is coming to HBO and HBO Max around 2027. Join the conversation with other fans on the ComicBook Forum!
