Harry Styles got the perfect stamp of approval on Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. 

Following the announcement of his fourth studio album on Instagram on January 15th, many musicians, family members, and friends showed their support for the former One Direction member—including Lenny Kravitz, Zoë Kravitz’s father.

The rock star responded to Harry’s post with a red heart and a fist emoji.

Lenny publicly showed his support almost six months after Harry was first seen with Zoe in Rome last August. The couple continued to appear together publicly, including several times in New York City this past fall.

I’m absolutely blown away by Harry’s new project, and it’s so great to see everyone else reacting so positively! Ben Winston, who’s worked with Harry for ages and directed so many One Direction videos, shared a heart and a salute – it really shows how much respect he has for Harry’s work. And even Harry’s sister, Gemma Styles, got in on the fun, sending a mirrorball and a kiss! It’s just a lovely moment to see all this support.

Harry Styles’ new album is scheduled to come out on March 6th, and it’s been a project he’s been working on for a while. After finishing his ‘Love on Tour’ in Italy in 2023, he’s kept a very quiet profile, making few public appearances.

The 31-year-old went on to tease his long hiatus. 

He finished by telling everyone to take care of one another. He promised to reconnect with them when the moment was right, and reminded them to always be kind. He expressed his deep love for them, saying it was immeasurable.

Harry Styles was born on February 1st, 1994, in Evesham, Worcestershire, to parents Anne Cox and Desmond Styles. He grew up with an older sister, Gemma, who was born in 1990.

The family settled in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, when he was very young, and his mother, Anne, recalls his first word being “cat.”

Styles described his hometown – a village of around 5,000 people – as both “quite boring” and “picturesque.”

I remember reading in Harry’s autobiography, Dare to Dream, that he actually cried when his parents told him and his sister, Gemma, they were getting divorced. He was only seven years old at the time, and apparently, he wasn’t usually one to cry, which made it even more impactful.

“I guess I didn’t really get what was going on properly, I was just sad that my parents wouldn’t be together anymore,” he said.

Des and Anne remained a couple for two more years, after which Des moved out and Anne relocated with Harry and Gemma to the rural area of Northwich, Cheshire. Later, when Harry was a teenager, the family returned to live in Holmes Chapel.

Anne and Robin Twist got married in 2013 after being a couple for more than ten years. Her son, Harry, proudly walked her down the aisle and served as best man at the wedding.

Everyone who knew him said Harry was a naturally creative and outgoing child who loved being the center of attention. He was a performer at heart, always eager to entertain, and wasn’t afraid to be silly. According to Louisa Jepson’s biography, he actually started recording music very young – his very first recording was an Elvis cover, “The Girl of My Best Friend,” done on a karaoke machine his grandfather gave him. Anne told Now magazine in 2010 that her son has always been confident. She said he’s been making people happy since he was a child, and she always predicted he’d become a performer.

Harry earned a little extra scratch—£6 an hour—working at W. Mandeville bakery on Saturdays. 

According to his former boss, Simon Wakefield, he was the politest employee they ever had. Wakefield told the Mirror in 2013 that customers especially liked him, recalling when Styles came back to the shop to film parts of the movie One Direction: This Is Us.

Mr. Wakefield explained that the shop became popular with young girls when Harry worked there – sometimes as many as twelve would come in at once. Even today, groups of around twenty girls often visit and take pictures. Harry was a dedicated employee, responsible for everything from serving customers and cleaning the back room to scrubbing floors, washing trays, and keeping the counter tidy.

Anne was the one who ended up sending Harry’s X Factor application in when he got cold feet.

When auditioning for The X Factor in spring 2010, the 16-year-old confidently stated that people – usually his mum – tell him he has a good voice. He performed Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” without any musical accompaniment. He explained that singing is his passion, and if the judges didn’t believe he should pursue it, that would be a significant obstacle to his dreams.

It was a bit of a rollercoaster, honestly. Harry didn’t quite make it to the very end – he wasn’t in the final or even the second-to-last group of boys. But the show’s producers really liked him, so they weren’t ready to let him go just yet!

It was a pivotal moment when Simon Cowell and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger – who was temporarily replacing Cheryl Cole – decided to put Harry together with other hopeful solo performers: Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson.

Oh my gosh, he actually said it! He was on CBS Sunday Morning in 2017 and he was talking about how the name just… happened! He said they were tossing around ideas, but honestly, he doesn’t even remember how he came up with it! He just suggested it, and everyone instantly loved it! Can you believe it? It just… stuck! It’s amazing to think something so perfect happened so casually. I’m obsessed!

Zayn explained on Phoenix’s Hot 97.5 FM in 2012 that the band initially brainstormed a bunch of potential names. Harry suggested the one they ultimately chose – he simply texted it to the group, and they all agreed it was good. Apparently, Liam came up with some pretty awkward suggestions too. Zayn also recalled another idea they considered, which was an acronym: USP, short for Unique Selling Point.

In October 2010, One Direction hit the X Factor stage live for the first time.

Even though I’m his mother, I truly believe Harry is a wonderful person, and he’s presenting himself on the show just as genuinely as he does at home,” Anne told Now magazine.

Honestly, when Harry went to the X Factor house, I just had to tell him – I had to! I said, ‘Harry, please, just stay you. Don’t let all the craziness change you, okay? And don’t think you’re too good for chores now – you’ll still be unloading the dishwasher when you get back home, you know!’ It just felt important, like he needed to hear it from someone who knew him before all this happened.

Despite being naturally gifted for performing, Harry began experiencing panic attacks before each live show, according to Alice Montgomery’s biography, Harry. He once even vomited in the hallway beforehand. Eventually, he found that drinking sparkling water and practicing deep breathing helped him calm down.

Despite their later success, One Direction didn’t win The X Factor in 2010. They finished in third place, with Matt Cardle winning the series and Rebecca Ferguson coming in second.

Harry recalled enjoying friendships with both girls and boys when he was in primary school, as biographer Louisa Jepson noted. He wasn’t like some boys who avoided girls, and he considered himself friends with everyone.

According to his White Eskimo bandmate, Will Sweeny, Harry Styles was surprisingly popular with girls even when he was very young. Harry and Caroline first met in October 2011 at an after-party for a show at London’s W Hotel, and they left together. However, according to Alice Montgomery, nothing significant happened between them that night.

In her 2015 memoir, Storm in a C Cup, Caroline Flack described how she and the other person initially connected well – they were both single and enjoyed each other’s company. However, she explained that things became difficult once their relationship became public. She recalled the early days as lighthearted, mentioning that he had playfully joked about being attracted to older women.

In 2012, Harry Styles and the rest of One Direction appeared on an episode of iCarly. The band was scheduled to perform as themselves, but Harry jokingly pretends to catch “jungle worms” after sharing a drink with Carly, even though a doctor had just warned her she might still be contagious. Vogue beauty editor Lisa Niven jokingly observed that Harry seems to have the self-care routine of a professional beauty editor, praising his choice of Ouai hair products and especially the Sunday Riley oil.
