Since the release of “Wanted,” it’s often been thought that Wesley Gibson, also known as The Killer, is Mark Millar’s most memorable villain. With a successful movie and iconic costume, he’s a favorite among fans of Millar’s work. However, there’s another character who could potentially claim the title of “best villain.” That would be Matt Anderson, better known as Nemesis. Over time, his appearances have increased significantly, making him almost twice as frequent as Wesley. This beloved cult character has steadily risen in popularity and now rightfully holds the top spot among Millar’s villains. After starring in three solo books at three different publishing houses and playing a significant role in a crossover, Nemesis has solidified his position as the best.
Following the transfer of Millarworld to Dark Horse Comics, it’s been thrilling to see the return of the menacing character Nemesis, first in “Nemesis: Rogue’s Gallery” and soon in “Nemesis: Forever”. Post the occurrences of “Big Game”, Nemesis has undeniably seized the limelight as the chief villain in Millarworld. While he had already established his villainous stature, his character overshadowed even Wesley Gibson from “Wanted”. Now, with no competition to hinder him, Nemesis can unleash his full potential and cement his position as the undisputed master of malevolence.
Heir to The Fraternity

Following Wesley’s demise in “Big Game,” there is uncertainty about who will take charge among the villain group, the Fraternity. For 20 years, Wesley led the super villain secret society before Nemesis emerged. Given that Nemesis was the primary antagonist surviving the event and has not been fully explored as leader in “Rogue’s Gallery,” it is possible he may assume control of the Fraternity in future events or the upcoming series. This raises questions about how Nemesis’ character will evolve with this newfound power.
As an incredibly influential and untouchable individual by law, Nemesis possesses the ability to execute any idea that crosses his mind. In the narrative of “Rogue’s Gallery,” he was strategically placed at a disadvantage, which greatly enhanced the portrayal of his near-invincible adversary. However, with all the resources now within his grasp, he is poised for victory. With world domination as his new objective, this represents a significant leap forward for him. Even without the Fraternity’s wealth, he has amassed fortunes from the wealthiest and most corrupt individuals globally. This raises questions about just how formidable he will be in the future. Although there may not be many heroes presently, they are certain to unite once more to counter him. When a villain can inspire such a response, it underscores a considerable amount of power.
As a captivated movie critic, I must confess, Mark Millar’s creation, Nemesis, initially seemed like an antihero crafted in the darkest corners of his imagination. However, over time, this villain has evolved into a mesmerizing masterpiece that leaves readers craving more. Despite the frequent criticism that Millar is too edgy for some comic enthusiasts, it’s evident that we are now witnessing the dramatic conclusion of Nemesis in volume four.
It appears that the allure of observing the descent of the villain into further depths of depravity resonates deeply with many readers. Regardless of the opinions hurled at Millar by his critics, one cannot deny his knack for crafting gripping narratives populated by characters that leave you yearning for more insight. And Nemesis stands as a shining testament to this talent.
Global Domination

In a bid for worldwide control, the stage is set for the continuation of “Nemesis: Forever.” Adopting a questionable tech magnate persona that bears resemblance to a real-life figure who stirs controversy, Mark Millar has crafted a narrative in a world strikingly similar to ours. With plans to subjugate the planet using advanced technology, he has succeeded and we’ve all become victims of Nemesis. Unlike Wesley, he doesn’t enslave the world through smartphones or electric vehicles; instead, he does it out of unbridled animosity towards mankind, solidifying his position as the most formidable villain.
Anticipation for the next installment of Nemesis has reached a peak, as the notorious antagonist, referred to as “the world’s biggest bully,” continues to embody his moniker and push boundaries even further. As the final chapter of Nemesis approaches, it remains intriguing to speculate how this development will affect other titles within Millarworld. What’s certain is that we’re both anxious and eager to witness the unfolding events, which are shaping up to be a thrilling climax due to the most formidable villain yet in Millarworld.
