Hasbro Has Up to 50 Film and TV Projects in Development

Hasbro is serious about expanding into movies and TV shows. During a recent discussion about the company’s earnings, CEO Chris Cocks explained their strategy of minimizing risk by only announcing projects once they’re well underway. In fact, Hasbro has a surprising number of films and series based on its popular toys in the works – more than many realize. Cocks hinted that several of these projects are gaining momentum, and we could hear significant announcements around them as early as 2026.

As reported by Deadline, Hasbro’s head, Cocks, described the company’s strategy in entertainment as building lasting brand opportunities. CFO Gina Goetter acknowledged that selling eOne to Lionsgate in 2023 had shaped their current approach. Despite this, Hasbro is actively growing its partnerships with major studios like Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount, Lionsgate, and especially Netflix. Recently, Netflix chose Hasbro (along with competitor Mattel) as the official toy maker for KPop Demon Hunters, following the film’s huge popularity on streaming.

Hasbro is producing fewer movies and shows on its own, but it’s still working with big studios on many projects. According to one estimate, Hasbro has 45 to 50 films and TV series based on its toys and games currently in the works. These include two different Monopoly projects: a movie produced by Margot Robbie’s company and a game show on Netflix. A live-action My Little Pony movie is also planned, along with a long-anticipated crossover between G.I. Joe and Transformers as an animated series for adults called Energon Universe.
