HBO Max Adds Several Fan-Favorite Slasher Sequels (But the Original Is Still Missing)

As Halloween gets closer, people are starting to watch a lot of scary movies! Luckily, most streaming services have added new horror titles in October, giving fans plenty to choose from. For example, HBO Max added several popular slasher sequels this month, but it’s disappointing that the original movie that started the series isn’t available there.

Though the very first *Halloween* movie, directed by John Carpenter, isn’t currently streaming on HBO Max, the service has added several sequels. *Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers*, *H20: 20 Years Later*, and *Halloween: Resurrection* all became available on October 1st. You can also stream the crossover horror film *Freddy vs. Jason* on HBO Max.

On HBO Max, the *Halloween* movies all come from a specific run within the series, allowing you to watch that part of Michael Myers’ story chronologically. The three *Halloween* films recently added were all originally released by Dimension Films, which probably explains their unique streaming availability. *Freddy vs. Jason*, meanwhile, was distributed by New Line Cinema, now a part of the same company that owns HBO Max.

It’s always enjoyable for dedicated fans to rewatch the Halloween sequels, but many still prefer the original movie and other installments. However, finding where to stream the Halloween films can be difficult.

Where to Stream the Halloween Movies

If you’re planning a Michael Myers movie marathon this month, be prepared to use multiple streaming services. The *Halloween* films are spread across HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, Shudder, and AMC+.

You can watch the original *Halloween* movie, as well as *Halloween 4* and *Halloween 5*, on Shudder and AMC+ – both streaming services owned by AMC. But what about the sequels, *Halloween II* and *Halloween III*?

While you can find some of the *Halloween* movies on Shudder, the second and third installments – *Halloween II* and *Halloween III: Season of the Witch* – are streaming on Peacock. You’ll also find the latest film, *Halloween Ends*, on NBCUniversal’s streaming service.

It’s really annoying trying to find these movies online. Rob Zombie’s *Halloween* is available on AMC+, but not Shudder. Its sequel, *Halloween II* (from 2009), is only on Paramount+. And *Halloween Kills*, the second film in the recent trilogy, isn’t available on any of the popular streaming platforms.

Streaming these movies is frustrating and unreliable. It’s much simpler and more enjoyable to just buy the physical copies instead.
