Streaming services are always changing, and what’s available can disappear quickly. This is about to become clear for HBO Max subscribers. A highly-rated animated series is returning for its third season after a three-year break, but fans who haven’t seen the first season need to watch it soon before it potentially leaves the platform.
Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated series, Primal, became a popular success when it first launched in 2019. However, all 10 episodes of its first season will soon be unavailable on HBO Max, with the last day to watch being January 11th. Luckily, the highly-rated (100% on Rotten Tomatoes) and five-time Emmy Award-winning show’s third season will premiere on Adult Swim the same day. Season 3 will then be available on HBO Max on January 12th. Primal is a unique show set in prehistoric times, following the surprising friendship between a caveman named Spear and a T-Rex called Fang.
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal Is a Masterpiece of Adult Animation
Simply put, Primal is an exceptional show, and its perfect 100% critic score for both seasons is well-earned. With a strong 93% audience approval rating, this ambitious, dialogue-free series uses stunning animation and sound to deliver a powerfully immersive and often deeply moving story of survival in a harsh prehistoric world. It represents the absolute best work of Genndy Tartakovsky, brilliantly blending his unique visual style with thrilling action and genuine emotional impact.
Wow, this show really knocked it out of the park! Every single review from Season 1 – all 23 of them – is glowing. Sam Mossam from the Arizona Republic said it’s proof of what animation can do, and that it delivers a truly memorable experience, just as good as anything live-action. And David Stone at Rolling Stone? He described the storytelling as incredibly fast-paced and full of heart – seriously, he compared it to a speeding velociraptor! It’s clear this season is something special.
I’m so excited for Primal Season 3! While we’re still waiting for official critic scores, the first three reviews are incredibly promising. It sounds like the show is continuing its amazing streak, and Nick Vladez from ComicBook even went so far as to call it the best season yet, giving it a perfect 5 out of 5! I can’t wait to see what Genndy Tartakovsky has created this time around.
Where to Stream Primal Season 1 After It Leaves HBO Max?
The cancellation of Primal after its first season is disappointing for fans of adult animation, and it’s even harder because finding a way to watch the show will be difficult. Once it’s removed from HBO Max, the 10 episodes won’t be available on any popular streaming service. You’ll only be able to watch it on Adult Swim’s website if you have a cable TV subscription.
The third season of Primal starts on Adult Swim January 11th at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time. You’ll be able to watch it on HBO Max starting the next day. More details about when future episodes will be released are coming soon.
