HBO Max Is About To Lose the Most Overlooked Family Movie of 2022

As a film buff, I’m excited to see what HBO Max is adding next month! February’s bringing some great movies like Life of Pi, The Notebook, and the classic Wuthering Heights. It’s always a bit of a bummer though, because to make room for the new stuff, they have to remove some titles. Sadly, one of the films leaving is a really good family movie from last year, which is a shame.

I’ve been so impressed with the family movies we’ve gotten lately – everything from Encanto to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish has been fantastic! But I truly fell in love with Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile last year. It’s a really sweet, charming musical based on the classic children’s book, and it tells the story of Lyle, a shy crocodile who sings and lives in New York City. He becomes friends with a new family and, through music, helps them find happiness and overcome their worries. It’s been available to stream on HBO Max since August, which has been wonderful, but sadly it’s leaving the platform on February 3rd, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely check it out before it’s gone!

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile Is a Near-Perfect Family Movie

Looking for a fun family movie? You can’t go wrong with Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile! It’s a cheerful musical that’s been a hit with audiences of all ages, earning a fantastic 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Lyle, the crocodile, is a kind-hearted character who brings people together, making the movie a lighthearted and enjoyable experience. Plus, the film features catchy, high-energy songs from the creators of The Greatest Showman – you’ll be humming them long after the movie ends!

While Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a good family movie, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of Paddington. Critics gave it a 72% rating, but some found the plot predictable and wished for a stronger villain or more suspense, which made it less engaging for adults than other recent family films. Still, it’s a reliable and enjoyable choice that most viewers will likely appreciate, and it shares a similar heartwarming feel with Paddington, even if it isn’t quite as well-made.

Even though Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is leaving HBO Max, you’ll still be able to easily find it online. It’s also streaming on both Hulu and Disney+, and there’s no indication it will be removed from those platforms anytime soon. Plus, you can always rent or buy the movie digitally.
