The initial installment by James Wan, often hailed as one, could very well be the scariest movie from the 2010s decade (though _Sinister_ comes close). Despite mixed opinions on its subsequent sequels and spin-offs, the original _Conjuring_ film stands out with its combination of terrifying elements and emotional depth – a quality not commonly found in most horror productions.

Autumn is an ideal season to revisit the chilling tales of The Conjuring once more, and this week seems particularly fitting for a re-watch. Currently playing in cinemas, The Conjuring: Last Rites promises to be the concluding chapter in the haunting story of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Misery (1990)

This weekend, there’s a highly anticipated Stephen King movie playing in theaters generating lots of excitement. In September of this year, the 1990 thriller has been included in HBO Max’s selection and it makes for an excellent choice for a chilly autumn night viewing. Kathy Bates delivers an unforgettable portrayal as she embodies a fervent admirer of a renowned author, whose affection for his work spirals into a truly alarming extent. This film is undoubtedly one of the finest adaptations of Stephen King’s works you’ll encounter.
