HBO’s Heated Rivalry Gets Massive Season 2 Filming & Release Update

The popular series, Crave, launched on HBO Max in late 2025 and was quickly renewed for a second season. Now, there’s a significant new development regarding Season 2.

On Thursday, February 26th, the creators of the show, Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady, appeared on CBS Mornings to discuss when the show was filmed and when it will be released. This followed a recent update from author Rachel Reid regarding the next book in the series, which unfortunately wasn’t positive.

The show’s creator announced that new episodes of Heated Rivalry will be available as soon as they’re finished, so fans won’t have to wait long.

The executive producer encouraged viewers to focus on their favorite moments from the show and embrace the anticipation for Season 2.

The pair also discussed their collaboration with Crave. Tierney explained that Crave had faith in both him and the source material, recognizing the existing fanbase. He was impressed by their respect for the audience, something he felt many others lacked, believing they often underestimated the people who already enjoyed the book.

When Is Heated Rivalry Season 2 Coming Out?

In a recent interview, Tierney revealed that the script for Season 2 is currently being written. This confirms what lead actor Connor Storrie previously stated.

Although there’s no official release date yet, the creator has announced that Heated Rivalry will be released in April 2027.

Jacob Tierney, the creative force behind the popular hockey series Heated Rivalry – he wrote, directed, and executive produced it – said the show closely followed the original book by Rachel Reid. He told Gayle King that because both the book and the production team are Canadian, staying true to the source material was a priority.

Before the show launched, he shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he assured the author they were committed to a faithful adaptation. He explained he didn’t want to fall into the common trap of simplifying or shortening the story, and instead, wanted to do justice to the source material and present it with the respect it deserved.
