Good news for fans of Heated Rivalry! The popular series has been renewed for a second season. Inspired by Rachel Reid’s Game Changer books, the show centers on the intense competition and secret romance between professional hockey players Shane Hollander (played by Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Their passionate relationship could jeopardize their careers if it became public. Heated Rivalry is produced by the Canadian streaming service Crave and is also available to watch on HBO Max in the United States and Australia.
Season 2 is officially happening, and it will be based on the sixth book in the Game Changer series, The Long Game, according to Entertainment Weekly. HBO will continue to air the show in the US and Australia, and is working with Crave to expand its availability. Stars Hudsom Williams and Connor Storrie filmed a video announcing the new season, teasing it will be “Hotter, wetter, longer.” Storrie encouraged fans to read The Long Game if they want to find out what happens. You can watch the announcement video below.
‘Heated Rivalry’ Has Become One of the Most Talked About Shows of 2025
The new series Heated Rivalry launched on Crave and HBO Max with the first two episodes on November 28, 2025, and immediately became popular on social media. Critics have also praised the show, giving it a 95% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 71 out of 100 on Metacritic. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Jacob Tierney discussed the positive reception to the first season, stating:
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this is fantastic! I’m incredibly grateful and excited. I usually prefer to let conversations develop naturally rather than pushing them, and I’m hoping the most interesting discussions about the show will happen after everyone’s had a chance to see it and understand the full story.
I was so excited to hear about Season 2 of Heated Rivalry! Justin Stockman, who’s a big shot at Bell Media – they own Crave – put out a statement talking all about it.
As a fan, I have to say ‘Heated Rivalry’ really showcases the amazing talent we have in Canada! The characters are so well-developed, the story is gripping, and it’s just the kind of world you get totally lost in. The reaction to the show has been fantastic, and I’m thrilled it’s now being enjoyed by audiences around the world – it’s a huge accomplishment!
I was so excited to hear that Heated Rivalry is getting a second season! It was announced right as the fourth episode, “Rose,” dropped. We’re still finishing up Season 1 – the last episode comes out on December 26, 2025 – but now we know there’s more to come. They haven’t said when Season 2 will premiere yet, but I’m hoping we won’t have to wait too long to see what happens with Shane and Ilya’s story!
