Good news for fans of Heated Rivalry! The show has been renewed for a second season. Created by Jacob Tierney and originally released on Crave, the series—based on Rachel Reid’s novel of the same name—is now also available on HBO Max, bringing the story of hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s secret romance to a wider audience. The show follows their years-long relationship, and its popularity has led to this exciting renewal.
Now that Heated Rivalry is more than halfway through its first season, things have become even more complicated for Shane and Ilya. Their already tangled relationship gets a new twist with the introduction of Rose Landry, a famous actress who begins dating Shane. The fourth episode concludes with Shane and Ilya unexpectedly running into each other at a club in Montreal. As it looks like they might be going their separate ways, fans are left eagerly anticipating what will happen next.
Great news for fans of Heated Rivalry! HBO Max has renewed the show for a second season, and it’s already become a huge hit. Since its release in late November, Heated Rivalry is now Crave’s most popular original series, with viewership increasing by almost 400% in its first week, according to internal data. Plus, the series is expected to be shown in even more countries soon.
The news was confirmed in a video posted on X featuring the stars of the series, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. You can watch the video here:
Given the popularity of Heated Rivalry, Crave has renewed the series for a second season. Only two episodes remain in the first season, with the finale airing on December 26th. There’s still plenty of story to tell, as the show is based on a book series. While season one will cover the events of the first book, Heated Rivalry, a second book, The Long Game, continues the story of Hollander and Rozanov, providing material for the new season.
It’s currently unknown if Crave will add more episodes to season 2 of Heated Rivalry. Season 1’s six episodes were carefully planned to stay true to the original story, allowing both the Scott Hunter/Kip Grady storyline and the unfolding romance between Hollander and Rozanov to be fully explored. However, given the show’s popularity, most viewers would likely welcome a longer season 2.
“Heated Rivalry” really shows that audiences are hungry for fresh, diverse stories. Hopefully, its popularity will encourage other creators and networks to produce the kind of content people actually want to see.
