Update [Thu 16th Oct 2025, 5:15pm]:
After a recent blog post hinted at it, Quantic Dream has officially revealed Spellcasters Chronicles, their new competitive multiplayer game.
Here’s the teaser trailer:
Spellcasters Chronicles is a free online game where you team up with others to battle using magical spells and summoned creatures. The goal is to strategically outplay your opponents and win!
Every 3v3 match is a 25-minute fight where you play in the third person and use strategy to beat the other team.
I’m excited to hear they’re doing a closed beta for the game on PC through Steam later this year! They haven’t said anything about other platforms yet, though, so we’ll have to wait and see if it comes to consoles or anything else.
Quantic Dream, the game studio famous for story-driven adventures such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, is now exploring the possibility of creating multiplayer games.
The French developer recently shared a blog post detailing its plans for the future and how it’s evolving beyond being a company focused on just one game.
Since 2018, the team has grown significantly, more than doubling in size. They are currently developing multiple games, including Star Wars: Eclipse, which was first revealed almost four years ago.
I’m really excited to hear Quantic Dream is working on a competitive multiplayer game! It’s totally different from the story-driven, single-player experiences they usually make, which is a cool change of pace.
We’re excited to announce a big change! After focusing on single games for years, we’re expanding with multiple teams dedicated to building the next generation of amazing games. This includes a brand new direction for us: a competitive multiplayer experience. It’s built with the same creative spirit that’s always been at the heart of everything we do.
This new game might be unexpected for our fans, as it’s quite different from our previous work. But we’ve always been about taking chances, pushing boundaries, and trying to achieve the impossible. We love exploring new ways to play and tell stories.
We know creating something new is tough. Winning over players, standing out from the competition, and introducing innovative ideas is a real challenge. Because we’re new to this type of game, we have a lot to prove, and your support and feedback will be incredibly important. We believe that together, we can create something truly special.
The post doesn’t offer many specifics, but it suggests Quantic Dream has grown significantly in recent years. They’ve also started publishing games made by other studios, like Dustborn, which is coming out in 2024.
It was surprising to hear they’re making a multiplayer game – we’re definitely curious about it, but it’s likely a ways off before we get to see it.
David Cage recently shared some interesting news. Are you looking forward to a multiplayer game from Quantic Dream? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
