Heinz Unveils Squeezable Gravy Inspired By Thanksgiving Leftovers

Heinz doesn’t want your Thanksgiving leftovers to be stuck in second gear.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! They did it! Heinz just released a new gravy – Leftover Gravy, they’re calling it – and it’s totally inspired by that gravy from Friends! The one Monica made! It launched on November 18th, and honestly, I’m already obsessed, even though it’s…sauceless? It just gets me, you know?

Heinz is famous for its gravy in jars, but now they’re offering a new version of their classic turkey gravy in a squeezable bottle. This is designed for fans of the TV show Friends, specifically to help them make the iconic ‘Moist Maker’ sandwich. In a 1998 episode, Monica (Courteney Cox) famously made Ross (David Schwimmer) a leftover sandwich and generously soaked the bread with gravy.

To really drive home the idea of a fully-loaded sandwich, Heinz put a new picture of it right on their ketchup bottle. They also provided a detailed recipe for anyone who wanted to make it themselves. Their Instagram post on November 18th showed how to build the sandwich with layers of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce between three slices of bread.

To celebrate its launch exclusively at Walmart, Heinz created a limited-edition kit for its Leftover Gravy. The kit, which is now out of stock, included the recipe for a special sandwich, one bottle of Leftover Gravy, and a jar of Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy—all for just $1.88.

Even though the initial release was limited, Heinz is expected to make more kits available at Walmart stores throughout the week.

Ultimately, the brand hopes customers will fully enjoy their fondness for this classic sandwich, and encourage them to add as much sauce as they like.

Heinz knows everyone loves leftovers, especially on the day after Thanksgiving, so they’re highlighting how their gravy makes those leftover meals even more delicious. “We decided to focus on the day after ritual because we all know leftovers are the best part and our gravy makes them that much better,” said Jamie Mack, Associate Director of Brand Communications for Heinz U.S.
