Helldivers 2’s huge Killzone crossover is back for more with a new Legendary Warbond and extra content — and you might get it all for free

Earlier this year, the creators of Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Game Studios, released a major crossover event with the Halo franchise for their popular co-op shooter. This added a new, premium ‘Warbond’ pack – costing $15 – filled with weapons, armor, and cosmetic items inspired by or directly from the famous Halo series. It’s worth noting that this wasn’t the first time Helldivers 2 had collaborated with another franchise.

Before teaming up with Halo, Helldivers 2 had a crossover with Killzone in 2024. This brought armor and equipment from the Killzone universe into the game. However, this content was only available for a limited time and players had to purchase it bit by bit through the in-game store, unlike the more comprehensive ‘Warbond’ system Arrowhead Game Studios started using with the Halo crossover this year.

Since players got Halo-themed items in Helldivers 2, they’ve been requesting a similar bundle featuring Killzone gear that they can keep forever. Thankfully, Arrowhead Game Studios is delivering with the new Helldivers 2 x Killzone Legendary Warbond.

Arrowhead Game Studios announced on the PlayStation blog that the game will launch next week, December 18th, at 7 A.M. Pacific Time / 10 A.M. Eastern Time. A new trailer was also released, which you can view below. Mitchell Ayre, the community manager, wrote the post.

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Phil Ayre announced the return of content inspired by the classic Killzone franchise to Helldivers 2, stating, ‘It feels right to bring back this beloved content a year after launch, and we’ve updated it with improvements and adjusted pricing based on player feedback.’

The new Killzone Legendary Warbond will be available for 1,500 Super Credits, the same price as the Halo Warbond. It includes all the content released in the Superstore last year, such as the StA-52 Assault Rifle, StA-11 SMG, and PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle. It also features the AC-1 Dutiful and AC-2 Obedient armor sets, which come with the Acclimated passive ability – reducing damage from fire, gas, acid, and electricity by 50%.

Alongside the armor sets, you’ll also receive matching capes and player card backgrounds, plus the “Assault Infantry” player title. This Warbond also introduces new light and dark camo patterns—called Extrasolar Ash—for your Fast Recon Vehicle, Exosuits, Pelican shuttles, and Hellpods.

I think it’s really neat that Arrowhead is doing this: if you purchased any of the Killzone content in the Superstore last year, you’ll receive the complete Legendary Warbond as a free gift – even if it was just a single item! Plus, any Killzone items you already bought will automatically be fully unlocked with medals, so you’ll be able to make faster progress through the Warbond.

This offer isn’t for players who received some Killzone items as free gifts. Arrowhead previously gave these away due to concerns about prices in the Superstore. Those players will need to either purchase the Legendary Warbond with 1,500 Super Credits or earn them through gameplay. However, any gifted items will already be unlocked within the Warbond.

The new Helldivers 2 update successfully brings back elements from Killzone in a way that’s easy for players to enjoy. The weapons and armor are well-designed, though they aren’t overpowered. If you’re a Killzone fan who enjoyed the previous crossover, or just like the gritty, sci-fi aesthetic of the Helghast, this new Warbond is definitely worth checking out.
