As a huge movie fan, I’ve always been drawn to horror – it’s just such a fascinating genre! What I love is how many different ways it can mess with your head. You’ve got ghosts and demons, mind games, stories about how small we are in the face of the universe, and even funny horror! But honestly, the stuff that really gets under my skin is body horror – the kind of movies that make you feel physically uncomfortable. And now, BOOM! Studios is collecting some of their most disturbing stories into a new one-shot, and I’m getting a first look – it’s seriously creepy!
Coming to comic shops in April, Hello Body Horror #1 is a spin-off of the popular horror anthology Hello Darkness. This new series will collect some of the most disturbing stories from Hello Darkness, alongside brand new, terrifying tales. These stories are designed to be deeply unsettling and explore themes like influencer culture and the pressure to achieve beauty standards, all while keeping you on edge. Check out a preview below if you’re brave enough!
Hello Body Horror Will Push Readers to Their Limit With These Grotesque Tales

The first issue of Hello Body Horror showcases work from a fantastic group of artists, including Michael W. Conrad, Martin Morazzo, Jeremy Bastian, Ziyan Qiu, Jenna Cha, Robert Hack, Mark Bouchard, Rye Hickman, and Derick Jones. BOOM! Studios describes it as a collection of the best talent from their ‘Kill U Comics’ line, and early previews definitely support that claim. Even the covers, by artists like Rebeca Puebla, Jenny Frison, Johnathan Wayshak, and Yanick Paquette, are impressively creepy.

BOOM! Studios introduces Hello Body Horror #1, a comic featuring unsettling tales. “Body Positivity,” by Mark Bouchard and Rye Hickman, follows a fitness influencer whose ambition pushes her to extremes. “Minimal Scarring,” by Derick Jones, tells the story of a plastic surgeon who uses leftover parts from his wealthy clients to change himself. The issue also includes stories from Michael W. Conrad, Martin Marazzo, Jeremy Bastian, Ziyan Qiu, Jenna Cha, and Robert Hack, bringing together a talented group of artists from ‘Kill U Comics!’
Body Horror Is the Genre’s Most Personal (and Most Fascinating) Scare

The new horror comic, Hello Body Horror #1, promises to be genuinely frightening, and that’s fitting for the body horror genre. This subgenre is particularly compelling – and unsettling – because it taps into our fundamental anxieties about our bodies and losing control. It often brings our deepest insecurities to the surface, forcing us to confront them through the stories we read. Body horror also makes us think about mortality, which is already a difficult topic, and then adds twisted and disturbing scenarios involving the body. With stories that feel particularly relevant today, it will be fascinating to see how Hello Body Horror #1 delivers the scares and how readers respond.
Hello Body Horror hits comics shops this April. Final order cutoff for the issues is March 9th.
