Henry Cavill is involved in several upcoming productions such as “Grey” (probably referring to ‘The Grey’), “Enola Holmes 3”, and his eagerly awaited ‘Warhammer 40k’ series on Amazon. These are just a few of the major projects he has lined up, but unfortunately, there’s speculation that one of these might be postponed due to an injury sustained during filming. Given that this project is a remake of a beloved fantasy franchise, it’s easy to see why fans are so disheartened by the potential delay.
According to Deadline’s report, Henry Cavill sustained an injury during the pre-production phase of Amazon MGM Studios’ Highlander movie. The incident happened on set while he was training, but details about the nature of his injury remain unclear. Due to this injury, it seems that production may be postponed until early 2026.
What Is Highlander?

Back in 1986, the movie Highlander captivated audiences for the first time, featuring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery as Connor MacLeod and Ramirez. This film introduced the concept of immortal combatants engaged in battles through history, leading to a follow-up, Highlander II: The Quickening, which was released in 1991.
In 1994, “Highlander: The Final Dimension” was released, but simultaneously, a new “Highlander” TV series was airing. This series starred Adrian Paul, who portrayed Duncan MacLeod, an immortal member of Clan MacLeod. The show ran for six seasons. Later on, the two main characters would cross paths in “Highlander: Endgame” in 2000.
Over time, several smaller series and animated adaptations of Highlander were released. However, Endgame stood out as the most significant installment in the series before the high-profile reboot starring Cavill was announced.
A Long Road to the Big Screen
The Highlander reboot has taken quite some time to make it to the big screen, with Cavill attached to the project since 2021. Along the way, there have been ups and downs, but this year, it appeared as if the project was gaining momentum and might finally come to fruition relatively soon.
After securing its star, Highlander has enlisted big-name director Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Kerry Williamson. The film’s cast is now being rounded out, although it was previously in pre-production. Unfortunately, there has been a delay, but Lionsgate plans to accelerate production again next year, provided Cavill recovers fully. We wish Cavill a speedy recovery and hope for the best for the upcoming project.
