‘He’s Not Perfect.’ Dylan Efron Talked About His Pal Justin Bieber On Dancing With The Stars Amidst Online Rumors

Viewers really took to Dylan Efron while he was on The Traitors Season 3 – it wasn’t just because he’s Zac Efron’s brother – and he’s getting that same positive reaction on Dancing with the Stars, which is part of the 2025 TV lineup. Even people who were rooting for him as a possible winner on Season 34 might be surprised to hear that he’s friends with Justin Bieber. Dylan talked about the Swag singer, saying “he’s not perfect,” as Bieber continues to be in the news.

I was watching DWTS on September 30th, and I was really excited to see Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach dance the foxtrot to Justin Bieber’s “Yukon.” Before they hit the dance floor – you can stream the performance with a Disney+ subscription or Hulu subscription if you missed it – Dylan had some really nice things to say about Daniella, saying:

I really admire Justin. What I appreciate most about him is his ability to make others feel safe and comfortable opening up and being themselves. Being on this show feels like a personally vulnerable moment for me. He’s not without flaws, but he genuinely strives to improve every single day. It’s really inspiring.

Justin Bieber is familiar with opening up and sharing his personal struggles. The “Peaches” singer frequently appears in the news because of what he posts online. This includes speculation about his relationship with his wife, Hailey Bieber, and claims – made by some fans – that he’s been secretly contacting his former girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

He’s definitely had our eye for the past few days, sharing a number of cryptic quotes on his Instagram this week, including one about “toxic thoughts,” and another that muses, “It is very obvious that we are not influenced by ‘facts’ but by our interpretation of the facts.”

Fans came up with some pretty interesting theories about the singer’s Instagram posts this weekend. He shared several photos and videos from a basketball game at The League in Los Angeles, which seemed to be previewing his new song, “I Do,” from Swag II. Although the song is a sweet love song dedicated to his wife, Hailey Bieber, people noticed the timing of the post and found it a little unusual.

It seems Justin Bieber was thinking about marriage shortly after Selena Gomez married Benny Blanco. His social media posts quickly filled with comments from people suggesting it wasn’t a random occurrence, and many playfully trolled him about the timing.

However, Dylan Efron has a different perspective when it comes to Justin Bieber. He shared with Page Six, after appearing on Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday, that he’s excited to see Bieber perform at Coachella next year, and added:

He’s a really great person. I’ve always looked up to him.

Dylan Efron wasn’t sure if Justin Bieber knew he was using the song “Yukon” on DWTS, or if Bieber would even tune in to watch. However, the song turned out to be a perfect fit for their ballroom dance, and Efron and his dance partner earned their highest scores of the season.

Find out how the contestants are progressing on Season 34 – and if we’ll see any more of Dylan Efron’s celebrity friends – when Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and is available to stream live on Disney+.
