Hazbin Hotel is a wild show filled with intense action, impressive musical numbers, and characters struggling with their pasts and searching for a way to change. Angel Dust, one of the hotel’s most complex residents, perfectly represents this internal conflict between good and evil. While he’s known in Hell for his career in adult films and a difficult relationship, the real story behind Angel Dust has remained a mystery—until recently. A popular fan theory, sparked by a quick glimpse of an angel in an earlier season, is now gaining strong support thanks to the latest episodes of Season 2, particularly ‘Storyteller’ and ‘Behind Closed Doors,’ which reveal more about his hidden past.
I caught a quick glimpse of an angel in the background, and it struck me that this figure could completely change what we know about Angel Dust. It almost felt like we were seeing a hint of a truly selfless and heroic side to her, someone capable of great sacrifice.
Angel Dust’s Twin Sister Opens the Door for a Deeply Emotional Storyline.

Vivienne Medrano, the creator of the series, has established that Angel Dust—formerly known as Anthony—has a twin sister named Molly. For over a year, fans have theorized that a specific angel appearing in the Season 1 song “Welcome to Heaven” is actually Molly, due to her strong resemblance to Angel Dust and early concept art created by Medrano.
This angel is delicately built and has a spider-like form, but her pale pink and white coloring hints at a heavenly origin. Importantly, the same angel briefly appears in the crowd during Season 2, Episode 2 (“Storyteller”) of the song “Like You.” This second sighting is significant, suggesting she’s more than just a hidden cameo. The consistent use of this specific angel—especially given the potential for many different angel designs—strongly implies she represents Molly, and that the show is intentionally building towards a major reveal, linking Angel Dust’s history to current events in both Heaven and Hell.
Molly’s appearances are significant because they open up the possibility of her meeting Sir Pentious, who is the first demon to be redeemed and go to Heaven. Pentious’s surprising ascension mirrors Angel Dust’s own life, especially since Angel has been struggling in Hell while his sister is now in Heaven – the only place where his remaining family resides. Pentious’s redemption increases the pressure on everyone at the Hazbin Hotel, but it’s particularly painful for Angel Dust, as it highlights how far away he is from his sister.
I’ve been watching Pentious, and it’s fascinating. He’s really haunted by his past, genuinely sorry for his sins, and surprisingly, he misses his friends back in Hell – especially Cherri Bomb. Now, he unexpectedly finds himself with the power to bring together two angels who’ve grown apart. If he meets Molly and realizes she’s connected to someone he knows down below, it could create a really strong connection between them. It feels like this could finally give Pentious a purpose in Heaven – something he’s been searching for. He’s always focused on Angel’s soul, but this is different; he could actually help reunite someone with their twin. It’s a huge shift for him, potentially transforming him from a lonely outsider into the key to bridging the gap between Heaven and Hell, and bringing two desperately missed people back together.
The Sin That Damned Angel Dust May Not Be What It Seems.

Many viewers are excited about the possibility of Molly returning, but her appearance could have a much bigger impact on Angel Dust’s history. We learn in Episode 3 that Angel is in Hell because he killed his father, according to Vox. While Vox isn’t trustworthy, the creator has confirmed Angel came from an Italian-American mafia family. However, the details surrounding this event remain unclear, as Angel has never fully explained what happened to Charlie.
I’ve been digging into this case, and honestly, a really compelling new idea is emerging. It’s shifting the focus to Angel Dust’s twin sister, and it suggests he didn’t kill his father because of anger or gang stuff. Instead, it looks like it might have been self-defense – protecting himself from a really dangerous criminal, or even more likely, protecting his twin, Molly. It’s a total game changer!
Since Molly ended up in Heaven, it’s likely she was a genuinely good person who lived a virtuous life, even though she came from a family involved in crime. If her father was cruel, violent, or a danger to Molly – a common story element in mafia tales – her brother, Angel, might have made a huge sacrifice. By killing their father to save Molly, Angel would have committed murder, potentially condemning himself to Hell, but he would have also ensured Molly’s safety and allowed her to reach Heaven with a pure soul.
This single act of sacrifice would change how we see Angel Dust, shifting him from a villain who killed his father to a sympathetic hero who gave up his chance at a peaceful afterlife to protect the person he loved. It would finally explain the source of his deep pain and why he acts so recklessly in Hell—he’s fundamentally a good person trapped in a terrible situation. If he killed to protect his innocent twin sister, Molly, he’d become the perfect example of what the Hazbin Hotel is trying to achieve, not through change, but because of his inherent goodness. Molly isn’t just a minor detail; she’s essential to understanding Angel’s path to redemption.
