The latest episode of Season 2, “The One That Got Away,” left viewers with a major cliffhanger. Although the next episode isn’t scheduled to air until January 2026, the show’s creator, Todd Harthan, promises it will be well worth the long wait.
Harthan shared that the man pictured arriving in a vehicle is a key development. He believes this will lead to exciting new storylines and introduce a new character, played by a fantastic actor they’re currently working with. Harthan hinted that this person will be crucial in moving the story forward and connecting it to the next stage of the overall Roman-themed narrative.
Harthan also teased what’s in store for the show’s return. He mentioned there will continue to be engaging storylines for Morgan, focusing on both his personal and professional life. The latter half of the season will also spotlight other characters, with some exciting developments planned for Judy Reyes’ character, Soto.
We’re currently filming an episode with a great story for Deniz [Akdeniz]. At the same time, we’re working on an episode that delves into Daphne’s past and reveals some previously unknown details about her. It’s taken us a while to get to these stories, but exploring them feels like a fresh and exciting direction for the show.
Harthan shared that the team knows how the season will end. “We finally figured out the finale, and I’m really happy with it,” he said. “We want to make sure the audience is satisfied with how everything wraps up next year.”
High Potential Fans Can Expect An Epic Season 2 Finale
I was really concerned it would feel too similar to last year’s work, so we spent a lot of time figuring out how to make it fresh. I think we finally found the right approach, and I’m incredibly excited about what we’ve created. Hopefully, it will be a really engaging and rewarding experience for the audience. I truly enjoy my work and don’t want to disappoint anyone.
I’m really excited about this new series created by Drew Goddard! It centers around a single mom with a totally unique way of cracking crimes – she ends up teaming up with Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata, who’s a detective who always plays by the rules. It sounds like a fantastic odd-couple pairing! The cast also includes Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, Judy Reyes, and Steve Howey – a seriously talented group of actors.
High Potential Season 2 returns to ABC on Jan. 6, 2026.
