After a period of anticipation, Wildlight Entertainment’s Highguard is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The launch is being celebrated with a new showcase where the developers will share all the details about this free-to-play player-versus-player shooter.
In Highguard, players participate in “Raids” where the goal is to get the Stormbreaker and destroy the enemy team’s base. Before each match, you select from different base types, and then venture out to find improved weapons, armor, and equipment. You earn Vesper – the game’s currency – by mining, defeating opponents, and other activities, which you can then trade to Flynn for valuable rewards.
After you create and get the Stormbreaker, you can start a raid, which brings a Siege Tower to the enemy base. This tower acts as your respawn point while you attack, trying to destroy the base’s generators and its main target – the Anchor Stone. If the defenders win, the match restarts with better rewards available.
Beyond all of that, you can use tools like the Blast Hammer and Rocket Launcher to quickly break down structures. There’s a lot happening now, and even more planned for the future, so keep an eye on Highguard’s official channels for updates.
