Wildlight Entertainment, the studio behind the game, has announced that its online shooter will be permanently shut down and removed from access next week, on March 12th, 2026.
The game launched to a lot of excitement in January, but player numbers dropped off quickly. Despite several updates and new features, it wasn’t enough to regain its initial popularity, so the game will no longer be available to play after March 12th.
The game’s developers announced on social media that they haven’t been able to attract enough players to keep the game running long-term, despite everyone’s hard work. The game servers will be turned off on March 12th. They encourage players to enjoy a few last matches before then as a final show of support.
Highguard is getting one last update, either today or tomorrow, which will include a new character to play as, expanded skill trees, a new weapon, and a system to track your overall account level. The developers are releasing this content now, likely things they had planned for later, so players can still enjoy it.
Finally, the team at Wildlight wants to thank you for playing, for your support, and for helping to create the story of Highguard.
Highguard launched on January 26, 2026, and will be available for exactly 46 days before it’s removed. That’s a bit better than Concord, at least!
