A notable actor from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Dune universe has recently joined the cast of the upcoming Highlander reboot, taking on a wicked character.
Who is joining the Highlander reboot cast?
As per a recent update from Deadline, it’s been announced that Dave Bautista will be taking on a role in Chad Stahelski’s upcoming reboot. He’ll be portraying the character previously played by Clancy Brown in the 1986 movie – the formidable Kurgan. In the original film, the Kurgan (originally named Vitor) was a powerful Immortal and the principal adversary, known for his menacing presence.
Bautista will be cast alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming movie. Cavill is slated to portray the main character Connor MacLeod, a role previously held by Christopher Lambert. Additionally, Russell Crowe is also set to appear in the film, though his specific role within the storyline has yet to be revealed.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for updates on the upcoming Highlander film, but as of now, the specifics of the plot remain a mystery. Interestingly, what was once a Lionsgate production has now transitioned to Amazon MGM Studios. Can’t wait to see how this unfolds!
Filming for the movie is anticipated to start this autumn. A definite release date isn’t available yet, but director Stahelski had hinted at a potential launch in either 2027 or 2028.
In the original Highlander film, when the enigmatic character Russell Nash, portrayed by Lambert, ends a man’s life in a fateful sword fight within a New York City parking lot, he inadvertently leaves a fragment of an ancient artifact embedded in a car. The discovery of this peculiar evidence by the astute forensics specialist Brenda Wyatt sets in motion her and her partner, Lt. Frank Moran’s investigation into Nash. This exploration leads them straight into the heart of a perilous, centuries-long conflict between formidable immortals.
