Highlander Remake Adds WWE Superstar to Cast

The upcoming Highlander remake has added a new cast member.

Henry Cavill, known for his role in Man of Steel, will lead the cast of a new Highlander film. The movie, a production of Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists, will be directed by Chad Stahelski and also feature Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Dave Bautista.

Who has joined the cast of the Highlander remake?

Okay, so the *Highlander* remake is really starting to fill out its cast now. Deadline reports that WWE’s Drew McIntyre is joining the film, and he’ll be playing the brother of Henry Cavill’s character – Angus MacLeod, to be specific. It’s interesting to see them bring in someone with McIntyre’s background, and I’m curious to see how that dynamic plays out on screen.

Drew McIntyre, famous for his wrestling, started his acting career in 2024 with the action thriller *The Killer’s Game*. The film, directed by J. J. Perry, features stars like Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, and Terry Crews. The renowned 87Eleven stunt team, known for their work with Chad Stahelski, also contributed to the movie.

Michael Finch is writing the script for the latest Highlander film. Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt are producing it for UA, along with Neal H. Moritz, Chad Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis from Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.

Filming for the project has been pushed back to 2026 after Henry Cavill suffered an injury while preparing for his role. Currently, there’s no confirmed date for when the movie will be released.

I first saw Highlander back in 1986, and it totally blew me away! Russell Mulcahy directed it, and Christopher Lambert was fantastic as Connor MacLeod. Of course, Sean Connery played the amazing Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, and Clancy Brown was perfectly menacing as The Kurgan. Roxanne Hart and Beatie Edney rounded out a great cast as Brenda Wyatt and Heather MacLeod. It was so popular it ended up launching a whole bunch of sequels and even a TV series!

The movie begins with Russell Nash (Christopher Lambert) fatally wounding someone in a sword fight in a New York City parking garage, leaving a piece of an old, unusual weapon behind in a car. Forensics expert Brenda Wyatt (Roxanne Hart) discovers this strange evidence, and she and her partner, Lieutenant Frank Moran (Alan North), begin investigating Nash. Their investigation quickly pulls them into a perilous, centuries-long conflict between incredibly powerful immortals.
